• The prior result and its qualification are stated.
• The changed starting position makes a particular further question or result attainable.
• The continuation is worthwhile relative to its complete burden and retained obligations.
• Reuse, transfer and improvement of the developing means remain distinct.
• Independent carriers retain their own ends and consent.
• Changed criteria do not silently rewrite the earlier comparison.
• The return permits an honest stop and makes no claim of infinite future performance.
