Mira manages an engineering team and says, “I should develop in AI this quarter.” She names herself as the development subject, her incident-review and handoff work as the receiving use, and her team and service organization as its receivers. She wants to improve that contribution over four months. By Friday she needs a concrete question for the next improvement discussion. Current service work, confidential records and her ability to continue the role must stay protected. Six staff-hours, counting her time and colleagues’ time, can be taken from optional reporting before Friday without shifting required work to others.
An existing summary establishes delayed handoffs but does not locate where they stall. Three permitted incident examples and two colleagues’ fifteen-minute clarification slots are available. Mira compares what each feasible inquiry would add:

She selects the three-hour inquiry under C.40.OC. Its sufficient return is one evidenced handoff difficulty, the protected workload limit and the next question that could change the proposed contribution. A tool, a change in review support and personal development remain possible; none is selected from the word “AI.” If the examples cannot support that return, she brings the exact evidence gap on Friday instead of extending the study automatically.
Changed condition. If the existing summary already locates that difficulty and supports the next question under the same conditions, the half-hour interpretation is enough. She reuses it and ends this inquiry. The unused budget creates no obligation to interview anyone. Neither result requires an adviser or a course choice.
