MDPE.Application:5.1.3.1 - 1. Start from the participation that should remain possible

Choose one representative occasion and follow what people are trying to do. For a social evening, this might be: arrive without a regular partner, find willing partners, sustain enjoyable interaction, recover from an unfamiliar response, and leave wanting to return. For a performance ensemble, it might be: retain its recognizable sound while allowing a new member to contribute a variation.

State the preparation, access and support that the occasion genuinely requires. Someone attending a party need not first qualify for a stage competition. Someone entering a demanding competition may need preparation beyond the party’s entry threshold. Keep both promises where both are wanted.

Name the time, space, money and capabilities that constrain the arrangement. Include who can alter the timetable, teaching offer, selection criteria, access and payment. A teacher’s expertise does not give that teacher the organizer’s control of the floor. A competition result does not itself authorize a change to another event.

An existing satisfactory arrangement can be retained. Start changing it only where a concrete failed use or worthwhile opportunity warrants the burden.
