Access to FPF Library

First Principles
Framework.

FPF Library brings together the First Principles Framework project's own publications. Use their methods for engineering decisions, research, management and coordinated human/AI work.

Words match together (AND). Use quotes for a phrase, or enter a pattern or section ID. Search does not translate queries.

Try SYSE.24 or “bounded context”

Search syntax and examples

By default, all meaningful words must match the same source passage, in its text or titles. Matching ignores letter case. Ordinary word queries skip common English function words such as the, and and or; quotes keep a phrase, and uppercase operators control matching.

ExampleWhat it does
controlled variationRequires both meaningful words; their order may differ.
"controlled variation"Requires adjacent words in that order.
SYSE.24:4Prioritizes the exact named section. Pattern IDs also work.
engineering OR managementMatches either alternative. Write OR and AND in uppercase.
engineering AND (research OR management)Requires engineering together with either grouped alternative.
engineering -managementExcludes passages that match management.
title:"controlled variation"
body:"controlled variation"
Restricts the phrase to section/publication titles, or to source text. A field prefix applies to the following term or phrase.
"controlled variation"~1Allows one intervening word in the phrase.
"controlled vari"*Requires adjacent words, with the last word as a prefix.
engineering^2 OR managementGives engineering matches more ranking weight.

The Publication, Suite and Type filters narrow the same query. Results are source passages, not generated answers. Search does not translate, expand synonyms or automatically correct spelling. For a task expressed in another language, try English terms and read the context. Press / to focus the search field.

What is FPF?

README on GitHub

AI-native declarative pattern languages for engineering work. FPF gives engineers and AI agents a shared, precise language for Systems, Methods, architecture, Work, evidence, verification, decisions, improvement, and communication.

How to use FPF

Before selecting framework guidance, read and apply Using FPF and its DPF Suites. This instruction applies to project work, framework development, review and coordination. It explains how to find and read relevant content in the publications available to you, including when an interface cannot retrieve a large file.

  1. AI-native, FPF-driven engineering work. An AI agent can retrieve relevant patterns, compare their declared situations and questions, explain them in plain technical language, expose missing evidence or authority, and help produce the next useful result.
  2. Description and engineering of mixed human–AI work. People can use the same language to describe which System is being changed, which Method is proposed, which Work is actually performed, which capabilities are available, what is assigned or permitted, who has decision authority, what evidence supports a claim, and what would reopen a decision.
