Learn from successful workAn adaptation can reveal a dependency worth changing, or be the best available way to do the job.
Preserve an emerging concernFamiliar terminology and a listener’s expertise can replace what has not yet been expressed.
Obtain a meaningful comparisonA rare value can be valid; a routine outcome can fail its intended use.
Keep the whole work goingAttention, advice and investigation consume resources and can disrupt the action they support.
Share the work of inquiryA participant can supply a cue without knowing its cause; another contribution must make interpretation or action possible.
