B.5.SD:1 - Problem frame

Use this pattern when a discussion is meant to produce an explanation, model, proposal or plan for inquiry that another practitioner can use, but orderly participation has not yet supplied that result. Begin with the receiving question and the reasoning needed to answer it. Arrange capable participants to construct the answer together, making the important relations and uncertainties examinable.

For example, individual module tests have passed, but a reviewer needs grounds for the assembled configuration. Collecting the test reports or asking each participant for an opinion does not yet explain whether their results compose.

A competent expert’s direct answer, an already adequate model or a short clarification may settle the question. Use it. This method does not require a workshop and does not replace engineering, research, strategy or another practice that supplies the subject reasoning.
