DOCA.4:5 - Archetypal Grounding
DOCA.4:5.1 - A complete pattern contribution for a person’s later Work
This constructed case concerns Mira’s four-month exploration of useful engineering-review Work. Its source packet stipulates permitted example packages and a maximum of two inquiry hours per week. The stipulated review record identifies recurring delays from missing outside-practice premises. Her current ability to recognize those missing premises in representative Work is unknown. Independent acceptance, confidentiality, and sustainable workload remain protected.
One lead is “learn A.15.9.” The direction instead cites the complete A.15.9 body and recovers its contribution:
| Contribution position | What Mira would need to recognize or do in later Work |
|---|---|
| Situation | A review decision depends on an outside-practice result, but the available request names only a department, document, or tool. |
| Move | Inspect an existing answer; use its supported contribution and material limit. Select a further request only when its obtainable contribution warrants the whole acquisition burden; preserve the supplier/receiver judgement boundary. |
| First result | A useful supported answer with its material limit, a selected worthwhile result request, or an exact blocker. |
| Stop/non-use | Finish at the useful answer and its necessary limit; use the direct domain Method when the substantive specialist answer is the whole question. |
The pattern supplies guidance for the proposed contribution, not evidence of Mira’s capability. HCD and review-domain practice must establish representative performance, support, and transfer.
Two directions now differ materially:
| Configuration question | Supported capability-development direction | Access-and-specialist-support direction |
|---|---|---|
| Finite change | Add bounded representative practice with qualified feedback to Mira’s current review arrangement. | Add a usable existing-result index and access to a specialist’s bounded result, without presuming a new human capability. |
| Intended contribution | Mira distinguishes a useful qualified answer from a stronger unsupported claim and selects a precise request when its contribution warrants acquisition in later review Work. | Mira can use a qualified available result and obtain a further contribution when the review justifies its acquisition. |
| Necessary support | Permitted cases, competent feedback, challenge appropriate to the person, time, and a transfer check. | Purpose-specific access, a current index, a qualified supplier result, and a usable review interface. |
| Transition and resource burden | Practice and feedback consume time before later use; feedback availability is not yet established. | Index preparation and specialist response consume effort; continuity and response conditions are not yet established. |
| Protected and affected conditions | Review independence and confidentiality remain; feedback burden on colleagues must fit the same resource boundary. | Source custody and confidentiality remain; specialist demand must not silently displace other required Work. |
| Option effect | Representative evidence could inform a later programme comparison; its production and value remain conditional. | Access might make current capability usable sooner, but could create continuing supplier dependence. |
The candidates do not yet share a qualified same-result comparison: the first proposes development of independent recognition; the second proposes supported result use. The next question is which contribution the receiving review needs and what HCD or supplier result can qualify the corresponding transition. Combining them creates another candidate whose joint time and support need testing.
The result is two conditional directions, not a learning programme or recommendation. If one is later chosen, HCD.2 can supply programme candidates and comparison. Any requested programme recommendation and authorized programme choice remain separate; only then can Learning Product realize the appropriate Guide. The person can also stop now with the conditional directions and the support limits that matter; an exact support request is a further selected contribution.
DOCA.4:5.2 - A faster retrieval candidate is not a cost-free improvement
This constructed example stipulates a service unit’s actual manual qualification arrangement and an engineering estimate for a possible indexed arrangement over a ninety-day horizon. The result premise is fixed: a source-traceable claim-to-evidence account under the same acceptance criteria. The candidate does not replace independent acceptance. Review capacity and scarce index-maintainer capacity are separate resource coordinates.
| Finite-comparison coordinate | Actual S0: current manual account | Candidate S1: indexed account | Qualification and consequence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Result latency | 60 minutes per representative package in the case record. | 40 minutes estimated for the same package class. | Potential improvement, not an observed effect of an implemented change. |
| Index-maintainer capacity | No index maintenance is needed in this manual configuration. | Two maintenance hours per week are required by the estimate. | A resource increase that cannot be omitted or silently netted against a different person’s time saving. |
| Transition | Continuing operation. | Six setup hours plus a representative verification are needed. | Setup and verification compete with other unit Work. |
| Affected-System distribution | Reviewers currently bear the recovery burden. | Some burden moves to the index maintainer. | The recipient of the time saving and bearer of the new burden differ. |
| Protected conditions | Existing confidentiality and traceability basis. | The proposed index’s custody and coverage are not yet qualified. | The protected-condition premise blocks a positive whole-configuration conclusion. |
The finite change is adding and maintaining the index, not merely subtracting twenty minutes. Discarding the index could reverse its future use but would not recover spent setup time. A later model-assisted retrieval candidate would start from whichever configuration is then actually assumed, including its index-maintenance burden; it cannot reuse today’s S0 silently.
The return is a conditional configuration and two decisive questions: can the access owner qualify the proposed custody/use, and can the unit supply setup, verification, and maintenance without violating protected continuing Work? Even if latency improves, the resource increase prevents a no-worsening Pareto claim. C.11.CRC supplies the finite-comparison discipline; DOCA.5 must qualify the joint premises before a stronger reachability claim. The illustrative numbers establish no measured effectiveness.
DOCA.4:5.3 - The AI subject is the arrangement being changed
A team says “improve the model,” but its receiving-use failure may arise from the retrieval corpus, tool permissions, escalation path, or operating support. The team constructs a parameter-change direction and a changed-retrieval-and-oversight direction, each naming its model edition, data, tools, evaluation, and environment.
A bare-model benchmark does not by itself qualify either tool-enabled arrangement. The receiving engineering and evaluation practice must establish any transfer basis for the intended configuration, characteristic, and use under DOCA.1.CHR:4.5. Otherwise the reading remains unknown and the direction retains that limit. A corresponding request follows only when its obtainable contribution warrants acquisition. Human curriculum or learning-transfer evidence does not qualify either AI change.
DOCA.4:5.4 - Direct same-result arrangement work is enough
An organization already has a stable contribution and acceptance basis, adequate baseline evidence, and whole manual, internal-specialist, and provider arrangements. It does not reopen development-direction construction merely because the arrangements could be given development labels. OCE.8 owns the remaining organization comparison and lawful disposition; the necessary authority and specialist results still have to be present.
