DOCA.Preface:4 - Compare a later step from its own starting point
DOCA.6’s constructed ninety-day review-support case distinguishes an independent improvement from a later enabling possibility:
| Configuration | Estimated time per case | Weekly maintenance | Setup |
|---|---|---|---|
| Existing manual support | 60 minutes | 0 hours | Baseline |
| Index added | 40 minutes | 2 hours | 6 hours |
| Retrieval added to the index | 30 minutes | 3 hours | 4 additional hours |
The index-to-retrieval increment is ten minutes per case, one extra maintenance hour per week and four extra setup hours. A whole-path comparison against manual support instead considers the thirty-minute per-case estimate, the full maintenance burden and ten setup hours on the appropriate time basis. Complete result, resource, affected-person/team and protected coordinates still matter; these figures alone establish no preferred direction or aggregate saving.
An enabling relation needs engineering evidence that the later configuration can actually reuse the index and its supports. Keep custody, representative verification, quality, access and joint feasibility explicit. If the index has been realized, use that actual arrangement as the next baseline and retain its incurred setup history. A reversible arrangement does not recover spent time. If the retrieval connection fails, an independently qualified manual-support contribution can remain useful.
