One receiving question, several kinds of direction
Larch Engineering wants to improve a small industrial monitoring service over nine months while preserving current customer operation. Its operations lead is the recipient of the opportunity account. The governing management arrangement owns any later direction commitment; the inquiry team cannot bind the company. DOCA.1 sets a return within two weeks and protects confidentiality, safety and continued service. The team has one day of combined engineering and operations effort available, including preparation and interpretation. Existing qualified service and capacity reports can support a first comparison of directions and expose an impossible overlap. Reviewing them is worth that effort; a new platform benchmark cannot qualify the whole support arrangement in this window. The sufficient return is conditional directions and their limiting dependencies, not a purchase recommendation. If the reports cannot support a needed premise, that gap remains in the return.
The initial proposal is “replace the analytics platform.” DOCA.1.CHR recovers the real comparison positions: fault-detection usefulness for the stated customer equipment, false-alarm burden, response time, operator and provider effort, total transition and operating resources, service interruption, security, effects on small and large customers, and future maintainability. Each needs its own scale, polarity, evidence and window. Current readings are supplied by engineering and operations; missing readings remain unknown.
DOCA.2 varies more than vendors. DOCA.3 tests what receiving problem would make each contribution worthwhile. DOCA.4 keeps the proposed result and support arrangement together:
| Direction being constructed | Contribution and support question | Exact external result still owned elsewhere |
|---|---|---|
| Market/use | Could the current service solve a different, evidenced customer problem without changing the platform? | Market and domain inquiry must qualify the receiving need, affected customers and acceptance basis; Strategy owns any market commitment. |
| Technology | Could a different detection component improve the named operating result? | Engineering and AI evaluation qualify that component in the actual equipment/data configuration; safety and security retain their constraints. |
| Human capability | Could operators better distinguish a false alarm from an actionable signal? | HCD qualifies later tasks, current performance, supports, transfer and feasible development; a course title is not that result. |
| Organization | Could a revised escalation and review arrangement reduce missed or incomplete handovers? | OCE compares whole arrangements for the same required result, including provider responsibilities and actual capacity. |
| Provider | Could a specialist service supply the missing contribution? | The provider must supply qualified output, availability, response, dependency and withdrawal conditions; purchase intent is not an operating service. |
| Platform/support | Could data provenance, a simpler interface or a maintained reference make current detection usable? | Systems/Platform Engineering supplies architecture and realizability; OPS supplies continuing operating and support conditions. |
When one same-result arrangement comparison is already the whole question, go directly to OCE.8. The broader DOCA search does not become a required preface.
