EXD.1:4.4 - Revise when a contribution changes the target
Compare a new contribution with the current question. Does it reveal a different intended use, change a relevant condition, dispute the subject basis or expose an error under the same question? Make the consequence explicit in the next explanation.
For a changed target, state the new question and what remains valid from the earlier answer. For an error under the same target, retain the target and repair the affected inference. For a disputed premise, recover or revise the subject account. In an exchange, use EXD.4 to choose and interpret the next contribution.
Stop when the question is clear enough to select the required account and a useful next explanation, or when a specific unresolved input has an actionable return. A formal question record is useful only when the work needs one.
