Engineering.Reference:0.3 - Specialization and use across Suite boundaries

This Engineering Suite edition directly includes Systems Engineering, Maintenance Engineering and Management, Knowledge-Corpus Access Engineering and Semantic Integration Engineering. OCE has its complete home in Management, where organizational relations, authority and capability participate in the construction of supportable commitments. Each DPF retains its full Methods, cases, sources and limits. A reader reaches the same full contribution through a cross-Suite return when the work needs it.

The alternative of using a field without including it as a direct constituent retains access to its full Methods. An engineering practitioner can perform OCE’s organizational construction through Management; a manager can perform MNT’s policy or programme Method through Engineering. Neither use requires commissioning another performer. OCE’s direct place in Management follows its organizational target and the continuing relations explained above. MNT’s policy, provision and programme serve the distinct maintenance subject: preserving or restoring required functioning through failure and condition knowledge. Their usefulness to management does not require including the whole maintenance field there.

Splitting either repertoire into engineering and management lists would obscure connections inside its Methods, such as OCE’s interaction of allocation and participation or MNT’s relation between a technical warning and obtainable support. The complete languages preserve these connections at their respective homes. Finance can likewise supply a constraint to an engineering choice, and Operations can supply qualified capacity to maintenance, without their whole fields entering this edition’s direct roster. A project uses the contributions it needs; the repertoire is not a compulsory project route.

Cross-Suite use requires keeping both sides of a changed dependency available. A revised organizational premise may affect realization and commitments; a revised maintenance premise may affect functioning and the service programme. Reconsider the affected connections when such a premise changes, while retaining independently adequate results. The question-led sections below show the particular receiving uses.
