HRM.3:5 - Archetypal Grounding
A service changes from routine reporting to advice and paid mentoring. A qualified job evaluation finds greater responsibility in the advisory work. The employer constructs an illustrative annual band of 60–72 units and a progression rule based on specified advisory capability; these numbers demonstrate the reasoning, not market or legal benchmarks. A market comparison supports considering a separate 4-unit supplement for a scarce specialty. The employer must still establish that the resulting terms and differences meet its applicable obligations and budget.
An experienced adviser receives 68 base units and mentors new colleagues. A proposed bonus based solely on billable hours would penalize those agreed mentoring hours. The owner changes the target to the attainable delivery contribution after the allocated mentoring time and specifies how both contributions are evidenced. Paying a larger bonus on an impossible target would not solve the incompatibility.
One employee challenges the omission of substantial coordination demands from another job’s description. HRM.4 obtains a competent examination; the valuation is reconsidered from the corrected work information. If, instead, the description and rule are sound but payroll omitted an effective supplement, ADM corrects the payment. Those are different repairs.
