MA.1:2 - Problem
A monetary total compresses the relations needed to explain a change. Multiplying average cost by a proposed quantity can miss available capacity, a setup, failed attempts or a supply threshold. It can also turn an allocation into an apparent payment consequence.
A model that contains every observable detail has the opposite defect: it costs too much to construct and maintain, while its precision may exceed what the underlying observations support. The working problem is to recover the dependencies that can change this answer and stop at a justified level of detail.
