MDPE.16:7 - Consequences

Positive consequences:

  • one current winner no longer erases useful source, minority, body-specific, low-visibility, or exploratory branches by default;
  • practitioners know what each retained branch is for and what to try next;
  • weak but useful stepping stones have use-bounded availability supported by named bearer, capability, access, permission, configuration, upkeep, or reconstruction relations rather than merely appearing in a list;
  • representation loss, obtaining constraints, and bounded causal-use claims become inputs to development decisions;
  • removal becomes a bounded decision rather than silent drift; and
  • direct Music, Dance, teaching, production, archive, tool, and engineering Methods govern their respective Work.

Costs and limits:

  • maintaining identities, rights, capabilities, evidence, availability, and dispositions takes attention;
  • some alternatives remain incomparable;
  • representative trials can require performers, partners, instruments, robots, venues, audiences, or teachers;
  • some branches should move to archive-only status or leave the current set; and
  • a project cannot guarantee distributed cultural continuation.
