MDPE.19:3 - Solution

Select one continuation promise and describe the arrangement that makes representative Work possible. Use the available evidence to return a qualified account, supported continuation, targeted change or local stop. Select a new reproduction test only when its attainable contribution warrants its full design, performer, support, observation and displaced-Work burden. For a selected change, use its direct domain Method; a claimed tested replacement or renewed reproduction requires representative Work under the relevant condition. A later success does not establish the change’s causal contribution without the appropriate C.28 result.

The sections below distinguish current assessment, selected testing and change, and their returns. They are not compulsory stages after an adequate current result. The continuation arrangement itself is a structure of Systems and relations; observations, capability development and support changes may overlap or repeat.

MDPE.19:3.1 - Choose one continuation promise

State what must still be possible, for whom, where, and over what horizon. Include:

  • the subject—for example, a partnered-improvisation Method, a rhythmic accompaniment practice, a work in active repertoire, or a robotic performance configuration;
  • representative Work that matters to the intended use;
  • the practitioner population, place, and period;
  • the distinctions that must persist and the variations that remain acceptable; and
  • one credible change under which reproduction matters.

Prefer a claim that can fail. “Keep Tarraxo alive” is too broad. A testable promise is: “during the next season, at least two teacher-organizer pairs can run a social Tarraxo practice in which dancers use the admitted timing, partner-response, and improvisation Method with varied partners and music, even when the present lead teacher is absent.”

If the project cannot name representative Work or continuity discriminators, return that gap to MDPE.1, MDPE.18, or the direct Music or Dance Method. Do not manufacture a reproduction test from a genre label.

MDPE.19:3.2 - Describe the current continuation arrangement

Recover only the contributors and relations that could change the promise. Useful questions include:

ConcernAsk about the actual case
EnactmentWhich performing Agent performs the representative Work, and which Method does that Work enact?
Performing wholeWhich bodies, partners, instruments, software, controllers, spaces, or other Systems must be configured with the Agent?
CapabilityWho can perform, teach, organize, maintain, recognize, or correct the practice under the stated conditions?
MemoryWhich recordings, notation, tutorials, oral histories, model files, or other epistemes can support another occurrence, and what do they omit?
ProvisionWhich Agents provide teaching, rehearsal, venue, event, maintenance, access, or technical support?
Recognition and selectionWhich audience, teacher, curator, competition, platform, or practitioner population can recognize the relevant differences, and which choices affect later opportunities?
AuthorityWho may change the class, repertoire, event, support service, publication, or technical configuration?

Do not call every item a carrier. State the relation: a teacher develops capability; a score describes material; a venue enables an event; a maintainer keeps an instrument usable; an organizer schedules Work; an audience or jury recognizes a difference; a performing Agent performs Work, and that Work enacts a Method.

Mark a continuation-critical relation when losing or changing it could defeat the stated promise. The first useful result can be as small as “the practice currently depends on one Agent who both teaches the Method and organizes the only recurring event; neither contribution has a tested replacement.”

MDPE.19:3.3 - Use present reproduction evidence

Use compatible observations of representative Work under current conditions. Arrange new Work only for a needed worthwhile and obtainable observation. For a claimed observed reproduction, identify:

  • who performed and which Systems and relations formed the wider performing whole;
  • the Method and material used;
  • which continuity discriminators and allowed variations were observed;
  • which support relations were needed; and
  • what the occurrence establishes for the continuation promise.

One successful occurrence supports present enactment. It does not by itself support replacement capacity, transmission, population prevalence, or continuation over the whole horizon.

When no current reproduction can be attempted, keep the current dependence, uncertainty or local retirement conclusion if it answers the receiving question. Use MDPE.18 and direct historical, archival or reconstruction Methods only when the inquiry is attainable and its expected contribution warrants the whole inquiry burden. Record survival can support a restoration proposal, not a claim that reproduction already occurred.

MDPE.19:3.4 - Select a useful test of a relevant change

First ask whether uncertainty about a credible change affects the current decision and whether an obtainable test could distinguish the possibilities well enough to justify all its work, delay and cost. Available evidence can suffice for continuation under the supported conditions while replacement remains unknown. If a test is selected, choose a change relevant to the stated horizon. For example:

  • another teacher, performer, partner, organizer, venue, instrument, controller, or software version;
  • a delay before the next occurrence;
  • different material, tempo, audience, partner, stage, or social setting;
  • loss of one provider or support relation; or
  • a different receiving population.

Do not remove a legitimate constituent merely to claim independence. If safe withdrawal is impossible or harmful, use a rehearsal, simulation, historical comparison, or other qualified evidence and state the weaker conclusion.

Varying context is especially important when literal repetition can conceal cue dependence. A performer who succeeds only with one teacher, one partner, one exercise order, or one room may have learned a narrow context-response relation rather than the capability needed by the continuation promise. MDPE.17 and Human Capability Development govern stronger transfer claims; this test only reveals whether the continuation decision needs them.

MDPE.19:3.5 - Change the selected relation and test the claimed reproduction

When a change is warranted, target the continuation-critical relation supported by the current account or a completed test. A supported fragile continuation or authorized local retirement need not first manufacture a failure experiment. Examples of targeted changes include:

Observed weaknessRelation-specific intervention
One performer or teacher is irreplaceableDevelop and test another Agent’s capability; distribute teaching or correction Work; preserve access to the remaining expert without assuming unlimited unpaid Work.
Material survives but tacit Method is missingCombine source recovery with rehearsal, annotation, oral history, movement or sound analysis, and a receiving trial.
Instrument, hardware, software, or calibration is the single point of failureMaintain it, prepare a compatible replacement, preserve configuration information, or branch to a variant with declared changes.
One venue, organizer, or event provides the only recurring opportunityDevelop another provider arrangement, share organizing capability, or redesign the practice for another suitable setting.
Practitioners can perform representative Work that enacts the variant, but audiences or selectors cannot recognize itDevelop recognition capability through MDPE.23 or change the presentation and selection arrangement through MDPE.13, while preserving the variant’s relevant distinctions.
Literal reproduction is infeasible or undesirableSelect a branch that preserves the needed function or relations and state what changed; do not claim uninterrupted identity without evidence.
Support cost or harm exceeds current valueRetire the named class, repertoire membership, service, publication, or support arrangement within authority; preserve useful memory and notify affected Agents when required.

When the task includes performing a selected intervention, a capable and authorized Agent uses the applicable direct teaching, coaching, rehearsal, preservation, maintenance, software, event-production, organization-change or retirement Method. The continuation decision neither grants permission nor establishes that the intervention occurred. A warranted proposal can finish before that Work; a claimed tested intervention cannot.

When the requested result is tested post-change reproduction, observe representative Work under the changed condition. A document, training event, software change, new assignment or maintenance action is not that result. If reproduction succeeds, report the Work and changed arrangement; if it fails or remains inconclusive, report that result. Claim that the intervention repaired or strengthened continuation only with a suitable C.28 basis. A bounded keep, reverse, revise or stop decision can use the weaker supported result without another trial or causal comparison.

MDPE.19:3.6 - Return the supported continuation account or decision

State the smallest conclusion supported by the available basis. Distinguish a qualified current account from a performed test:

Supported conclusionUseful decision
Reproduction survived the relevant changeContinue the named arrangement for the stated horizon; retain the test and recheck condition.
Current evidence supports reproduction under one named dependent arrangementContinue within that supported horizon, retaining the dependence and any unknown replacement. Strengthening the relation or testing replacement is a separate choice.
Reproduction succeeded after the arrangement changedKeep or continue the arrangement only for the tested scope; monitor the reproduced Work, dependencies, and burdens moved elsewhere. This result alone does not identify what caused the difference.
A C.28 result supports the selected change’s causal contributionUse the weakest supported contribution claim needed by the decision; preserve the comparison, scope, alternatives, uncertainty, and moved burdens.
Current reproduction failed, but restoration conditions are availablePropose or authorize a restoration trial only if its attainable contribution warrants its full burden; retain the direct Method, performer capability, source basis, support, permission and stop condition. An available but unwarranted trial need not be undertaken.
One provider no longer supports the practiceRetire only that provider’s class, event, repertoire membership, service, or publication; make no wider loss claim without evidence.
Observation supports absence in a stated population, place, and periodAcknowledge bounded loss, preserve useful source material, and state what later observation would revise the conclusion.
Evidence cannot distinguish the live alternativesFinish the qualified account or decision supported across those alternatives. Select one useful attainable observation only when its contribution warrants its whole burden; otherwise keep the uncertainty and withhold claims that depend on resolving it.

A useful return fits in one paragraph:

The current social-dance practice reproduces under its normal weekly arrangement but fails when the lead teacher-organizer is absent: assistants can demonstrate figures yet cannot sustain partner-responsive improvisation or run the event. The school will co-teach the next six sessions, give two assistants organizing responsibility, and then repeat the test with varied partners and music. Until that test succeeds, the school may claim current enactment supported by one fragile arrangement, not distributed continuation of the practice.

Include the evidence limits, deciding Agent, authority, affected Agents, cost, and recheck condition when they change the decision. The decision is not the practice, the intervention Work, or the later cultural result.
