MDPE.19:4.3 - Archive reconstruction: a new present variant without invented continuity

Film, notes, music, and testimony survive for a partner-dance practice, but no current pair has been observed performing representative Work that realizes its timing, partner response, improvisation, and social use. MDPE.18 supplies source-traceable evidence and visible gaps. A reconstruction team then uses direct movement-analysis, oral-history, rehearsal, teaching, and performance Methods to prepare a receiving trial.

If a pair performs representative Work, the project can claim a present reconstructed variant within the tested limits. It cannot infer uninterrupted transmission, historical identity beyond the evidence, population recognition or durable retention. Testing another pair and organizer after a delay becomes a separate useful inquiry only when the receiving continuation question needs that attainable contribution.
