MDPE.Preface:3 - Performance, recognition, selection, and continuation are different results

A detector can distinguish a signal without a listener recognizing a style. A listener can recognize a style without selecting it. A curator or platform can select a variant without receivers being able to enact it. A receiver can enact it once without retaining it. A score, recording, video, model, or archive can remain while the capability and support needed for present reproduction disappear.

The patterns preserve these distinctions because each one exposes another engineering failure and next move. MDPE.12 qualifies observations. MDPE.23 develops recognition capability. MDPE.13 changes recognition-and-selection arrangements. MDPE.17 tests receiving enactment and source contribution. MDPE.18 makes memory and lineage evidence usable. MDPE.19 returns a supported continuation account or decision, selecting a reproduction test or targeted change only when needed and worthwhile. Success in one of these results does not establish the later results merely because they follow it.
