OCE.17:5.2 - A useful absence and a voluntary boundary
An association sees fewer position-design diagrams and fears that its members have abandoned organization design. A permitted case shows why: the current OCE.5 question concluded that a short-lived editorial contribution needed direct assignments, not a continuing institutional position. The absence of a position diagram is appropriate use, not cultural loss. The group keeps the example and asks whether its recognition questions wrongly require the diagram.
Members work for independent employers. The association can offer a case clinic under its participation rules, but cannot promise employer evidence, assign protected work or extend an expired chair’s authority. If access is denied, only the access-dependent use remains unobserved. This boundary changes what the group may do; it is not solved by calling the members a community.
