Working distinctions

Ordinary termMeaning in this MethodNearest tempting overread
Later WorkThe future work or contribution whose usefulness is being explored, at a grain sufficient to identify a receiver, situation and horizon.A Work family or future description is not a dated Work occurrence or a WorkPlan.
NicheA tentative match between a possible contribution and a receiving use under particular conditions. It is ordinary working wording, not a new universal kind.A market category, technical novelty or empty space in a map does not show that anyone needs the contribution.
Proposed provision promiseA statement of what could be offered to a receiver, under which conditions and acceptance expectations. An existing promise is read from its exact source; a proposal is marked as a proposal.A proposed offer is not an actual commitment, provider capability, access, provision or fulfilment.
Worthwhile problemA problem statement with a named affected use, an unsatisfactory or foregone result, its significance and the conditions under which addressing it could be worth the burden.Enthusiasm, prestige, a supplier’s claim or the phrase “there is a problem” is not enough to establish actual need or value.
Direction and support configurationA materially different possible change, together with the capabilities, access, Methods, people, tools, resources and relations it would require.A candidate configuration is not an obtaining arrangement or an authorized intervention.
Bounded reachabilityA source-qualified claim about whether specified transitions toward the candidate contribution could be made within the stated horizon and protected conditions.Plausibility, a drawn path or success for a different holder is not proof that this holder can get there.
Stepping stoneA candidate or retained intermediate possibility with an explicit later option or region it could open.Something easy, novel or educational is not automatically a stepping stone, a current best option or a justified probe.

When promise content itself becomes a relied-on claim, use A.2.3; commitment, provider, access and fulfilment remain separate. When a claim needs an actual Problem or problematic-for relation, use C.22.PFR — Problematic-For Relation to establish the actual condition, the applicable adverse criterion and the entity and use for which it is a problem. This Method can work with explicitly provisional problem statements without inventing those stronger relations.
