RMP.4:3 - Forces
| Force | Tension |
| Capture before loss | A later critic needs consequential detail that may disappear before a final claim is formulated. |
| Proportionate records | More detail can enable later questions, while indiscriminate capture increases burden and disclosure risk. |
| Plans and conduct | Prospective commitments help criticize actual choices, but neither an intention nor a later methods account establishes what occurred. |
| Adaptive inquiry | Interpretation can legitimately change, while hidden changes obscure the researcher’s contribution and prior exposure to outcomes. |
| Access | A protected original may support a permitted examination that its public rendering cannot support. |
| Reconstruction | Surviving records may recover part of a history, while filling its remaining gaps can manufacture false certainty. |
| Reuse | One trace can support several examinations, but readiness for one does not establish readiness for another. |
