Second fork — answer the current research-allocation question
With the brief fixed, RMP.2 uses an adequate current answer or compares the real research relations with no new study. An experimental mechanism comparison, field observation or model challenge is serious only when its criticism and obtaining conditions bear on this question.
| Changed supplied value | RMP.2 disposition |
|---|---|
| Applicable evidence meets the answer condition by supporting, narrowing or rejecting the proposed acceleration relation within the brief’s scope. | EvidenceSufficientStop, including residual uncertainty and reopen condition. |
| Domain engineering supplies the indicator relation, measurement feasibility, material identity, safe operating envelope, and authority; experimental comparison best exposes acceleration-induced mechanism change. | ResearchDesignDecision selecting that family and criticism. Only record locator/serialization items proven invariant across their admitted values remain as PostSelectionNeed. |
| The indicator may or may not discriminate the rival mechanisms, and the two plausible measurement-owner results select different strategies. | ResearchDesignHold naming the indicator-feasibility result, owner, affected alternatives, forked consequences, prohibited next Work, and reopen condition; acquisition remains separate. |
| The evidence remains insufficient and supplied material/access or burden conditions leave no worthwhile obtainable new study for this bounded case. | QualifiedNoNewStudy, preserving the unresolved relation or bounded answer, the allocation reason and any meaningful reopen condition. |
If a missing value prevents a particular selection still needed, a hold is the useful return. A settled no-new-study allocation instead retains the unknown as a limitation without inventing an awaited investigation. On the selected-design branch, the decision remains the source of the comparison and its limits; RMP.3 supplies the operational work it does not itself perform.
