SOM.2:4.3 - Connect the contrast to action
Use the contrasted variants in a small instance of the receiving movement. Compare the experienced change with the relevant external result. In writing, make a familiar mark and observe pen security, guidance and contact. Retain coupling between those actions if changing the hold affects them together.
If the lighter hold cannot keep the pen secure, return to an available hold. That boundary is informative; the lightest effort is not the goal. A distinction can remain useful even when one variant is unsuitable for performance.
Proceed to SOM.3 only for a change the performer can identify but cannot yet regulate as required. If the distinction disappears in the full action, preserve the conditions under which it was available and construct the needed combination or support transition. Do not report transfer from the preparatory contrast alone.
