SOM.4:11 - SoTA-Echoing

For using several bodily changes together, adapt the distinction between assembling a coordination and learning its unfolding feel, together with HCD.6’s whole-task construction. Continued conscious monitoring of each constituent remains useful in preparation when it does not disrupt the action. During performance, an effect-oriented cue may also help recall the learned coordination. Use the comparison in section 4.4 to choose how to direct attention in the whole action.

Tarasova and colleagues found faster simulated cannulation with needle/target-focused instructions than hand-focused instructions. No neutral-instruction group, limited retention follow-up and the task’s dependence on ultrasound restrict the inference. Adopt an effect-oriented cue as a serious alternative, not a universal superiority claim.

A 2024 reanalysis of attentional-focus studies reports publication-bias sensitivity and heterogeneous effects. Its abstract supports caution about a universal rule; it supplies no task-specific teaching protocol. Reject ranking cues solely by “internal” or “external.”

The proposed assembly-and-recall construction has no established comparative learning advantage. It offers an inspectable attempt, with preparation and relearning costs. Reopen it when a simpler cue supplies the coordination, recall disrupts another action, or the chosen whole cannot be obtained from the stated preparation.
