STR.1:3 - Forces

  • A recognizable starting question makes work possible, but an early formulation can conceal the most important alternative.
  • The strategic subject needs a usable boundary, while customers, partners and shared capabilities can make the consequences cross it.
  • A long horizon exposes durable consequences, but today’s chooser may control only a small near-term commitment.
  • Clear authority prevents overcommitment, while a team can often complete useful advice before every later permission exists.
  • Additional inquiry can clarify a disputed scope, but it consumes time that may be needed for the decision itself.
