STR.1:4.3 - Distinguish the answer sought now from the later choice

Ask the recipient which result would enable the next useful action. It may be a clarified frame, an account of changed assumptions, a set of feasible directions, a qualified comparison or a recommendation. Request an actual commitment only when it is needed.

Name who prepares the result and who can choose. A strategy team may compare service, licensing and exit while the Board retains the direction decision. The Board may control internal preparation but lack the customer agreement, data permission or financing needed for execution. Keep each limitation at the action it governs; missing trial permission need not prevent a comparison from being completed.

Reuse a sufficient decision-support engagement frame supplied through PSD.1. STR.1 adds the strategic subject, contribution, direction and commitment horizon rather than repeating that engagement method. A distinct adviser relationship may also need DOCA guidance on competence, confidentiality and retained choice.
