STR.8:11 - SoTA-Echoing

How much capability for change should a strategy sustain? Teece’s Dynamic Capabilities: Foundational Concepts (2025) relates strategic change to capabilities and the agility–efficiency trade-off. Adapt that line in sections 4.1 and 4.4: compare a useful configuration for the actual strategy instead of maximizing flexibility. The serious rival is efficient continuation with present capabilities; it wins when additional change capability costs more than its attainable contribution. The source is a theoretical synthesis, not causal proof of this configuration’s performance.

For diagnosing development at the right subject, distinguish product change, organizational use, learning and enabling means within continuous development. This separation informs section 4.3’s repairs. OCE.9’s whole contribution and exception path and HCD.12’s bounded unfamiliar-work transfer provide the more specific operational methods. A course or platform completion is the serious insufficient default, because it can leave the receiving contribution unavailable.

For explaining whether customer growth can sustain the proposed direction, adapt Ries’s The Lean Startup (2011), chapter 10. Section 4.1 constructs the next-period population and funding path; section 5.4 separates observed growth from affordable repetition. This is more useful than choosing a sticky, viral or paid label when the actual loop or its timing is missing. Roberts’s 2023 financial-decision text, section 6.4, exposes the cash-flow, working-capital and discounting assumptions hidden in simplified customer-lifetime value. Use its financial qualification where the comparison needs it, not as a universal growth target or a requirement for a detailed model. The startup cases do not establish growth effectiveness; equal margins or referral coefficients do not establish equal calendar-time growth. Reopen when retention, acquisition, payment timing or delivery conditions change.

Why should several initiatives obtain one strategic contribution? Goldratt, Goldratt and Abramov’s Strategy and Tactics (2002) is the historical source for relating each objective to its obtaining action and exposing necessity, action-to-result reasoning and group sufficiency. Section 4.2a adapts that construction to STR.8’s dependence question: construct result–action steps, distinguish the three grounds, locate support, and explain the group before its detailed actions. Section 5.5 supplies a constructed application and participant-driven revision using the Library’s existing methods. The source’s one-action-per-result and more-than-one-child conventions discipline its representation; this adaptation retains the distinction between a whole action and its constituents without imposing a fixed branching count. Retain alternatives at the action and whole-way scopes. The source acknowledges shared parents and supporting steps without developing them and leaves time dependence open; its tree is not a complete scheduling method or a universal strategic architecture.

Goldratt Research Labs’ Harmony guide, sections 1.1–1.3 and 3.2 (2007–2012) extends the connection to participant correction, implementation planning and separate observation of tactic execution and strategy achievement. Use the applicable Operations and organization-realization results for those claims. The openly available 2023 TOCICO presentation description by Uwe Techt identifies continued practice around logical breaks, team use and learning from deviations; that description does not supply its full method or outcome evidence. The present adaptation does not claim complete contemporary S&T instruction. An existing adequate dependence account remains the lower-burden alternative.

Reopen the diagnosis or method choice when representative work exposes another limiting condition, when a dependency changes or when an adequate lower-burden configuration becomes available.
