Coordinate economic plans, exchanges and shared resources

Economic Reasoning and Coordination connects calculation, exchange construction, commitments and institutional change. It uses existing financial and operating results while adding the questions about how participants’ plans, choices and constraints affect one another.

Working questionStart withResult
What do the prices or weights in this calculation actually support?ECO.1 - Recover the Basis for an Economic CalculationA grounded comparison or a conditional choice which preserves the missing exchange or resource condition.
Should this changed price alter our use of a resource?ECO.2 - Reconsider Resource Use in Response to Price SignalsA feasible adjustment or reason to keep the plan, with the relevant scope and transition costs.
Can different plans be joined into a useful exchange?ECO.3 - Discover an Exchange between Different PlansA proposed combination of contributions and terms, or the specific incompatibility.
How can a venture begin when commitments depend on one another?ECO.4 - Form Resource Commitments for an Uncertain VentureAn attainable first action or joint commitment with available resources and remaining exposure.
Which terms make hidden quality or effort matter to the participant?ECO.5 - Choose Exchange Terms for Private Information and EffortAn incentive and participation comparison with usable payment, observation or warranty conditions.
How will trading partners adapt after a dedicated investment?ECO.6 - Arrange Adaptation in a Dependent Trading RelationshipA feasible technical, contractual or organizational arrangement for the named dependence and disturbance.
How can several users sustain a shared resource?ECO.7 - Coordinate Use and Renewal of a Shared ResourceWorkable use, upkeep, observation and adaptation rules with their available contributions.
Why does a rule fail when moved between close cooperation and wider exchange?ECO.8 - Join Direct Cooperation with a Wider Economic OrderA correction to the affected interaction, preserving the different conditions of coordination.
Should an inherited economic rule be retained or changed, and how?ECO.9 - Decide Whether and How to Change Economic Rules through Their Working PracticesA supported change, bounded trial, retained rule or limitation, including the practices and capabilities needed.
Will lower resource use per result reduce total use?ECO.10 - Trace Efficiency Savings through Demand Responses (Rebound Effects)A comparison with and without induced responses, or a useful threshold with its scope and limits.

For a new service, the connected venture example joins discovering an exchange, recovering its economic grounds, forming commitments and arranging adaptation. If tooling becomes reusable and another supplier is available, the dependence changes; ordinary purchasing can then suffice. A supplier’s separately performed work is linked by an agreement, while interpreting that agreement can be a constituent operation in the buyer’s venture work.
