Should we scale a partner dance event after one successful showcase?
A salsa team has an exciting rehearsed showcase and is considering a larger festival slot. The intended use is social dance among unfamiliar partners.
Use MDPE.7 to choose the team’s next development work. State the decision, the people entitled to make it, useful alternatives, criteria, constraints and evidence. The showcase gives evidence about rehearsed performance. Transfer to unfamiliar partners needs its own observation before it can justify the larger slot.
The social dance and live music worked application combines characterization, practice architecture, support testing, observation and choice. Its team selects an unfamiliar-partner trial and defers the larger slot. The one-month duration belongs to that example’s circumstances.
If this team chooses a probe, arrange the permitted observation with the intended participants, partners and support conditions. Record failures as well as successes, then use the observations in the transfer and scale decision.
| A further question | Method or result to use |
|---|---|
| Should the teaching or coordination method change? | ME.1 identifies the method; ME.11 and ME.13 support a representative trial and fit or transfer conclusion. |
| Is the floor, sound setup or other support system limiting the event? | Use Systems Engineering for the support-system decision and its configuration and use conditions. |
| Can another group reproduce the practice, or can it continue over time? | Use MDPE.17–.19 for receiving and continuation. For a rhythmic capability claim, RHY.13 - Test Transfer, Retention, and Support Dependence of Rhythmic Capability selects the support, transfer or retention question actually needed; delayed reproduction is required only when that is the claim to establish. |
| Does one person’s capability need development? | Identify the person and later work, obtain a supported target, compare development alternatives and specify the transfer test. This Reference uses HCD’s demand, diagnosis and profile contributions; the separate complete HCD publication supplies further Methods under their own entry conditions. |
| Is the cause specifically in physical rhythm, perceived rhythm or bodily coordination? | RHY.1 - Locate the Rhythmic Difficulty in a Performed Activity localizes the difficulty; RHY.4 distinguishes timing events and RHY.14 supplies the observation the choice needs. |
| Can the organization commit to the event? | Obtain the relevant operating, safety, financial or other authorized commitment decision. OPS.5–OPS.7 answer narrower operating questions; wider event planning needs its own method. |
The team’s next choice can be made through MDPE.7. Add another contribution when the case raises its question.
