B.5.EA:5.3 - A familiar gesture points beyond the available term

A craft practitioner describes an operation by tracing a brief path with one hand and saying “it catches here”. A colleague interprets this as a property of the finished shape. Repeating the gesture while describing the encountered resistance reveals that the practitioner means a transition during the operation.

The colleague asks which change in the work occurs at that point and can now inspect that transition. The gesture helped develop the description; it did not by itself establish a physical cause. The applicable craft or physical account supplies that later explanation.
