CB.10:10 - Rationale
A contribution often matters through a sequence of changes in different places. Recovering the connections explains how the community could have helped; comparing them with other observations makes that explanation more answerable. Returning the account to practice turns evaluation into a useful contribution of its own.
Stories and indicators can correct each other’s omissions. Neither makes causal identification automatic. Keeping the claim at its warranted scope also permits small practical repairs without requiring every community to become a research programme.
