| Force | Decision it changes |

| An easy return and a worthwhile result | Lowering effort helps only if the action still produces something the person or receiving work values. |
| A stable occasion and changing circumstances | A familiar context can support repetition; a changed schedule, tool or responsibility may need another arrangement. |
| Support and dependence | A reminder or helper can be appropriate continuing support; withdrawing it tests a different condition and may impair the result. |
| Visible repetition and uncertain mechanism | Counts show occurrences, while initiation, completion, usefulness and automaticity answer different questions. |
| Continued participation and voluntary choice | A person may value a practice now and reasonably reduce or end it later. |
