CB.15:11 - SoTA-Echoing

The practice question is how to obtain a useful contribution across communities whose meanings, interests and working conditions differ. The selected line begins with a small joint task and practitioner access, then uses its received result to choose continuation. General networking remains useful for contact; it is insufficient when the result depends on understanding or combining actual work.

Etienne Wenger-Trayner, Beverly Wenger-Trayner, Phil Reid and Claude Bruderlein, Communities of practice within and across organizations, second edition (2023), pp.180–183.Adapt useful initial activities, boundary projects and practitioner-guided visits in :4.1–4.3/:4.5. Reject substituting general host presentations for the work the visit needs to reveal. The guide supplies practical constructions and experience, not a guaranteed trust or performance effect. Obtaining relevant access and returning the result adds preparation.
OCE.12:4.2–4.3 and OCE.11:4.Adopt capable participants, a working brief, handling a changed situation and explicit coexistence with continuing work. :4.3/:4.7 obtains the conditions for the promised contribution.Obtain the necessary authority and capacity from their actual owners.
F.9:4 and ME.13:4.Adopt separate local meanings and a bounded translation use when recurring semantic correspondence matters. :4.4/:4.5 preserves the further work needed to use an observed practice.Formal semantic comparison is needed only for the claim that depends on it; it does not create the social connection or establish professional transfer.

Reopen the selected approach when the useful task cannot be made small enough, a changed practice defeats the translation, the exchange transfers unaccepted burden, or different evidence shows that the chosen form cannot supply the needed result.
