CB.15:5.1 - Repair a referral between a reuse group and a workshop

In a constructed local network, a volunteer reuse group sends requests to a professional repair workshop. The volunteers describe a request as ready once the intake fields are complete. The workshop reserves that word for a case a technician has accepted into its work. Repeated returns are interpreted as unwillingness to help.

One practitioner from each group and the intake organiser compare two permitted past referrals. Their common task is to make the next request easy to accept or return with a specific information gap. The volunteers gain a usable reply; the workshop expects fewer conversations to recover missing information. Each agrees time for this small trial.

They preserve two states: “information supplied” and “workshop accepted”. The request includes the owner’s question and known context, with missing information stated. The workshop’s intake owner retains the decision to accept work. Its existing service conditions and available capacity remain applicable.

For the next request, the technician can identify a missing model detail and returns that question through the agreed contact. The volunteer obtains the information, and the workshop then accepts the case. The two groups keep the distinction and contact route. They have improved that referral; they have not committed the workshop to accept every future request.

If demand grows beyond the contact’s availability, they revisit provision before promising routine service.
