CB.1:4.4 - Build the contribution for the selected branch

For mutual participation, name the kinds of people whose contributions can help one another and the activity through which that help becomes possible. Describe the minimum relevant experience or access, the material people can bring, and what someone receiving a contribution will do with it. Membership criteria should follow the work and conditions of participation. A brand preference or friendship with the founder is insufficient when the promise concerns a wider professional group.

For independent carriers of a practice, identify the population and later activity to be changed. C.36 helps distinguish transmission, performance, selection and renewal of the practice. Then connect the needed contributions:

  1. Make the useful activity and participation demand understandable to potential learners. Show a relevant use and the available means of learning it.
  2. Establish that the domain method and its correctness criteria are available. If experts cannot supply a usable method, return that question to Method Engineering, and to Research Method Practice when unresolved evidence requires inquiry.
  3. Use HCD.5 to select learning activities for the relevant starting conditions and HCD.6 to construct representative practice and changed-condition attempts. Obtain missing material, help or access through HCD.7/8; a teaching publication can use Learning Product LPF (local learning-publication practice; obtain separately).
  4. Observe whether people can carry out the target activity under the support conditions of their later work. Keep course participation, helped performance and independent performance distinct.
  5. Arrange how revised instructions, questions or observed failures can reach the people concerned. They may receive these from a provider without joining a discussion group.

This limited composition works when the professional practice is sufficiently known and the learning provision can actually be obtained. If the question is the design of a whole new service, return the contribution and delivery requirements to Systems Engineering. The organiser retains the question of whether the intended population can obtain and use the resulting provision.
