| Spinks, The Business of Belonging (2021), physical PDF 139–168 | Connect people, purpose, setting, participation, rules, invitation and intended result; design guidance and timing instead of waiting for spontaneous interaction. | Select size and rhythm from the actual action. Small size, emotional intensity and platform activity supply no general quality or learning guarantee. |
| Wenger-Trayner et al., Communities of Practice Guidebook, second edition (2023), printed 152–156 and 163–174 | Distinct constructions for a focused discussion, shared conversation, rotating conversations, argument exploration, context comparison and reflection. | These are practitioner methods and cases. Preserve their different results and participation conditions; a forum format or topic selection supplies no independent decision mandate. |
| OCE.12:4.3 | Brief the work, reassess a changed situation and debrief the episode with an actual return. | Reuse the conversation construction while obtaining competence, permission and authority from their direct sources. |
| HCD.5/6 | Select learning activities and representative practice when learning is the receiving use. | An interaction can supply material or help without establishing independent capability. |
Compared with opening a channel or running a familiar event, the construction requires more explicit preparation but can reveal a timing, access or return failure before a recurring commitment is made. Reconsider it when a simpler arrangement supplies the same result, when the support cannot be obtained, or when participant conditions change.
The conversation variants are analytical adaptations of the Communities of Practice Guidebook by Etienne Wenger-Trayner, Beverly Wenger-Trayner, Phil Reid and Claude Bruderlein, published under CC BY-NC 4.0. Further source return: Spinks.
