CB.6:2 - Problem
Recognition can fail in opposite ways. Useful work disappears without a response, or an organiser attaches praise and prizes to whatever is easiest to count. The recipient may experience the same public gesture as appreciation, exposure or a demand to contribute more. A reward can also consume another person’s time or imply an opportunity that nobody has agreed to provide.
How can an organiser recognise a real contribution, choose a response that matters to its recipient, and change the arrangement when it distorts the work or imposes an unwanted burden?
