CB.7:2 - Problem
An organiser’s visible work can conceal the relationships and conditions that make participation possible. Copying the role title leaves those conditions behind. Selecting only frequent speakers can omit competent helpers, people trusted by a less visible group and people who perform essential preparation.
Delegation also fails when the initiator continues to settle every exception, or gives away work while retaining every useful decision. The apparent replacement cannot act, participants return to the founder, and a volunteer absorbs an indefinite burden.
A capable host can also miss simultaneous difficulties: some participants have no usable way to contribute, a discussion consumes the time needed for another question, and a recurring practical problem goes unnoticed. Training the host may help a capability gap. A shortage of attention can instead call for participants to share a bounded observation and support task.
The practical problem is to obtain the needed contribution and its continuation while preserving local knowledge, willing participation and an effective way to handle limits.
