CB.7:4.6 - Continue, hand over or reduce the promise
Review the next contribution while there is still time to change it. Check willingness, effort and support as well as completion. If work repeatedly exceeds the accepted commitment, reduce the activity, obtain more provision or change the arrangement with its recipient.
Prepare a successor through real work. Introduce the relevant people, transfer permitted working material and obtain their own access. Explain unresolved commitments and consequential exceptions. Agree when responsibility changes and tell the recipients whom to approach.
Where independence from the initiator matters, let another prepared person perform an episode without the initiator doing it for them. Preserve the domain assistance, accessibility support and decision routes that the work legitimately requires. Inspect what the new organiser obtained, where they still needed help and what prevented completion.
A willing, capable organiser may continue under the applicable appointment arrangement; another role may need rotation to share learning or burden. An expiring mandate still needs its proper renewal. CB.13 supplies that decision, while this pattern prepares someone to perform the resulting contribution.
If no feasible successor or support can be obtained, inform participants of the reduced or ending offer. Settle outstanding commitments, provide a usable route for remaining questions and preserve material under its applicable permissions. A declared handover is complete only when the recipient can take up the agreed work; otherwise return the missing condition or end that promise explicitly.
