CB.7:5.2 - Another host carries the next meeting
A garden group relies on its founder to open the room, welcome participants, explain the day’s shared work and settle every uncertainty. A volunteer offers to host the next meeting.
They identify two replaceable contributions: room access and the preparation brief. A venue steward supplies authorised access; an experienced gardener remains available for unfamiliar growing questions. The volunteer observes one brief, rehearses the next task with feedback and agrees what to do if attendance or conditions change.
At the next meeting, the founder is absent. The volunteer opens the room, gives the brief and adapts the grouping to the people present. A plant-health question goes to the experienced gardener. The selected hosting contribution works without the founder while subject expertise remains available.
The debrief reveals that returning equipment takes longer than agreed. The group obtains a separate helper for that task. If no helper is available, it reduces the equipment-dependent activity rather than silently extending the host’s commitment.
