CB.8:5.1 - Correct a mistaken removal without losing the rule
In a constructed online repairer group, a rule permits a relevant answer about one’s own tool when the affiliation is disclosed; unrelated offers belong in a separate space. A moderator removes a member’s linked answer as self-promotion and temporarily restricts posting from the member’s account. The member can still reach the independent appeal contact by email.
The appeal includes the original question and the complete answer. The member disclosed their connection, explained the tool’s relevant limitation and answered the requested comparison. The moderator who removed it also sells a competing tool and supplies their account without judging the appeal.
The alternate reviewer finds that the removal misapplied the rule. The answer and the member’s posting access are restored, the moderator’s public implication of an undisclosed interest is corrected, and the member receives the reason. The group keeps the rule that separates relevant disclosure from unrelated promotion.
A later post from the same member advertises a discount without answering a current question. Its different content supports moving it to the offer space. Correcting the first decision did not make every later post exempt.
