CB.9:4.6 - Reconcile support with actual work
At a useful interval, compare the accepted promise, delivered result, resource use and remaining support. Ask contributors privately where public gratitude could make a burden difficult to report. Look for extra preparation, repeated requests outside the agreed scope, deferred rest and work silently displaced elsewhere.
Distinguish a shortfall in supply from a change in the contribution itself. More applicants may require admission or a smaller promise. A sponsor’s new sales objective may require a new agreement. An activity with little practical value needs CB.10 and possibly CB.1; simply funding more of it may preserve the wrong offer.
Revise the affected commitment with its holder and receiver. Obtain the replacement allocation, payment or reduced expectation and communicate it to those who rely on the old one. Record only what people need to act and later settle the arrangement; a small group need not create a permanent reporting system.
Before an important support period ends, establish whether renewal is real, conditional or absent. Use CB.11 for continuation, transfer, separation or ending that changes the arrangement as a whole. Preserve useful resources and settle current commitments even when the future programme is reduced.
