CB.9:5.1 - A funded room with an unfunded organiser

In a constructed repair community, two clinics each month require twelve expert-hours and six coordination hours. Two experts each offer six hours, but the organiser offers only four. Room and consumable payments total 120 currency units per month. Paying those 120 units leaves the two-hour coordination gap.

The group compares two supported options for the next three months. One monthly clinic requires six expert-hours, three coordination hours and 60 units. An available unrestricted grant can fund it. Keeping two clinics requires the original 120 units plus two paid coordination hours at 30 units each, or 180 units per month. A sponsor offers 540 units for the period with recognition on the invitation and a report of the number of completed clinics.

The organiser verifies that the additional coordinator can handle booking confirmations within the paid two hours, that the experts still agree to their six hours, and that the sponsor pays before bookings fall due. Members on alternating work schedules can reach only one of the two dates. The community’s authorised decision therefore keeps both clinics, accepting the additional payment and sponsor recognition to preserve that access. The coordinator accepts the work and receives the booking access; the sponsor receives the agreed aggregate report.

The first clinic reveals another hour spent returning tools and resolving an unfinished booking. The group places that work with a willing contributor who has access and time. It also narrows the invitation: specialist advice is available at the clinics, with no promise of continuous replies between them.

When one expert becomes unavailable for a later date, the other cannot safely cover both tables. The organiser uses the agreed response: reduce that clinic to one table and tell booked participants what can be served. The funded venue does not justify preserving the original capacity claim.
