DOCA.8:4.4 - State the smallest warranted disposition
Write what can now be used and which earlier scope no longer has support.
| Disposition in ordinary language | Required meaning and next use |
|---|---|
| Unchanged within stated conditions | Inspection shows that the change does not alter this claim’s relied-on basis or applicable use. Preserve that bounded result, not a general “everything is current” conclusion. |
| Narrowed | A specified portion retains a qualified basis; explicitly withdraw the unsupported scope and qualify any changed comparison. |
| Blocked for this use | A necessary premise, interpretation, permission, or other condition is missing or no longer adequate. Name the claim withheld, exact gap, and responsible next receiver. |
| Revised | A changed contribution, configuration, path, or engagement has been described. State which parts are qualified and which remain candidate or conditional. |
| Retired for this use | A supported reason ends this opportunity or retention claim, such as a disappeared need, prohibited route, or defeated enabling connection. Preserve its history and any separately supported use. |
These are scoped returns, not a universal state machine. One change can leave a baseline unchanged, retire one route, and open a revised conditional alternative. “Revised” does not mean “validated,” and “blocked” does not mean the subject lacks every possible development direction.
An ordinary return can be short:
The indexed manual route remains supported for its inspected use, but the earlier retrieval direction no longer has permission for data class B. Retire that broad route and retain the class-A direction only as a new conditional candidate; obtain its own evaluation and incremental-burden result before relying on it.
