The next explanation can target a relation the recipient needs and the subject can support. A changed purpose becomes a reason to revise the target rather than a reason to repeat or lengthen the same account.
This work costs attention and can expose a decision or source gap that the explainer cannot settle. The useful stopping point is then a bounded question and return, with any independently supported answer retained.
