GOALS.4:5 - Archetypal Grounding
A product team aims to reduce failed customer imports. Its early KR tracks successful test imports; its final evidence includes representative production cases. Test success reaches the target, but customers still fail because their actual file variants were excluded. GOALS.2 repairs the coverage, and the team changes the parser and test basis. Lowering the production target would not address this failed means assumption.
Now suppose the customer retires that integration and moves to a different service. Continuing to optimize the old importer would no longer supply the valued result. The owner can end the improvement, preserve any remaining support obligation and redirect the available work. The same technical progress has a different meaning under the changed recipient need.
A separate investigation has reached its agreed answer: the proposed method does not meet the required accuracy under usable conditions. The inquiry closes successfully, the deployment goal remains unmet, and the decision owner declines deployment. A truthful negative finding is the useful result of that inquiry, not a reason to rewrite its evidence as a failure.
