GOALS.5:4.6 - Close the period and decide what follows

At the useful end or review horizon, interpret the results under the agreed criteria. Keep the mode, starting conditions, changes, assistance and remaining work visible. A numerical score may summarize a defined comparison. Use written interpretation when the score hides an important condition; do not average away a required failure. Self-assessment can recover context and explanations, while the claim still needs its evidence.

Decide separately what was achieved, what was learned, how to continue and what people decisions are justified. Retire an obsolete goal, preserve a worthwhile unresolved one with a new arrangement, or select a new direction where warranted. Carryover is a decision, not the default consequence of a low score. Notify the affected recipients when a goal or commitment ends.

Examine the practice itself. Did it expose and resolve the chosen difficulty? What did it cost, including data production, preparation, participants’ time and support? Which earlier reports or meetings actually ceased? Use GOALS.9 to repair missing capability or organizational conditions. A complete replacement is justified only when the alternative preserves the functions still needed. The useful result is a continuing practice suited to the work, not completion of a calendar cycle.

Recognition identifies where goal display has separated from joint action. Assurance requires the actual definitions, provider agreements, evidence and decisions behind the claimed results, with stronger inquiry only for stronger effect or reliability claims.
