HCD.12:2 - Problem
Familiar success can depend on the exercise’s wording, a named Method, a teacher’s cue or one repeated answer. Under new conditions, the person may fail to recognize the problem, fail to find an available response, apply it without adaptation, or reach an inadequate result. Those failures ask for different next actions.
A transfer test can also reward a new rigid habit. Someone who has learned to reject mismatching evidence may now reject complete evidence as well. A test containing only traps cannot show that the person can make a justified positive move when the conditions allow it.
