For the question of how explanation enters a coherent learning arrangement, adapt the official Team-Based Learning account and Jigsaw account. Their differing preparation and dependency structures inform §4.4. They are developed alternatives to an unstructured discussion, not evidence that every task needs either design.
The collaborative cognitive-load account makes task complexity, preparation and coordination burden relevant to selection. Sections 4.1–4.2 retain explanation only when its contribution warrants that burden. Bernstein, Shore and Lazer, 2018 supplies a bounded reason to distinguish visibility from memory of one’s own solution; its search experiment does not establish a universal teaching sequence.
Compared with immediate answer sharing, the present construction adds reconstruction and a personal return; compared with mandatory private discovery, it permits teaching first. Reconsider the choice when learners already possess the connection, when shared explanation adds no contribution, or when the required preparation or help is unavailable. The examples demonstrate conditional reasoning, not observed educational effects.
