Cross-Pattern Application
Instructional-material evaluation profile
A material designer needs to know whether an explanation, worksheet, course route, or instructional interface supports the work promised to its audience, and what to change when it does not. The instructional-material profile selects that bounded use from HCD. The object being judged is the material’s contribution under stated task and assistance conditions; human performance, the teacher service, and later learning remain separately evidenced questions.
Begin with the reader work, the audience’s prerequisites, the available material and help, and the decision that will use the judgement. If the evaluation specification is absent or unsuitable, HCD.18 constructs it. If a compatible specification is already available, HCD.19 applies it directly to the material and representative reader work. The useful return is a qualified material value or evidence gap, the limiting defect and repair reach, and the affected use that can test a proposed change.
This is a declarative bounded-use profile of the HCD repertoire. It does not make all HCD patterns stages of material evaluation or assert Method parthood. HCD.3/.6 can supply a target and task; HCD.7/.9 can supply or expose the assistance and practice contribution. Qualified equivalent inputs permit direct entry. A personal development recommendation still needs the person’s evidence. A reference framework used for a professional decision retains its own evaluation; it becomes an instructional-material use only when instruction is promised.
Choose properties from the promised work
Recover the task denominator from the promised work and qualified subject requirements, including prerequisites, consequential variations, and critical errors. Then compare it with the actual explanations, examples, practice, and usable returns. The present headings can help locate content but cannot remove a necessary task from that denominator.
The following families are selectable domain content, not a fixed vector. Keep a characteristic only when its values can change use, repair, evidence collection, or protection of another useful contribution. HCD.18 makes the selected set complete for the particular decision.
| Characteristic family | What distinguishes useful support from a limiting defect | Typical repair and evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Task and dependency coverage | Every promised task and consequential variation has its needed operations and prerequisites available. | Trace required work to actual contributions. Supply an absent operation, usable qualified return, or narrower promise. |
| Subject validity and distinction integrity | Claims, examples, diagrams, and criteria preserve domain-correct kinds, relations, units, conditions, and justified claim strength. | Test a plausible countercase against a qualified subject basis. Correct the relation and its actual dependents. |
| Extractable structural information, when the amount matters | What selected structure this reader can correctly extract from the material episteme through this expression under the stated conditions, using C.2.8. | Name recovered and missing relations; use fixed semantic units if counting. Repair the missing or false relation, expression or usable return. Keep amount, effort, material adequacy and learning distinct. |
| Explanatory sufficiency | The reader can recover why the next move follows and when it changes, with the declared assistance. | Follow the explanation through a worked case to use. Restore a missing ground, contrast, transition, or operation; obtain relevant reader evidence when the claim needs it. |
| Example discrimination | The example makes a consequential difference between the intended rule and a plausible wrong rule. | Try both rules on the examples. Add or change a contrast where their predictions differ. |
| Task and criterion validity | The task elicits the promised contribution, and the criterion accepts valid alternatives while rejecting a plausible error. | Independently solve and challenge the task and key. Repair the criterion before blaming the reader or changing a correct explanation. |
| Feedback and continuation support | The arrangement lets a reader identify a discrepancy, correct it, and undertake a relevant next attempt. | Inspect and observe the feedback’s function. Supply criterion-bearing help and a retry, or repair an unavailable promised service at its owner. |
| Concrete and expressive support | An action, observation, example, image, or memorable cue reveals the relation needed in use, with its limits recoverable. | Retain or restore decision-bearing detail and vivid examples. A quiet reference needs no decoration merely to appear engaging. |
| Representation semantic fit | The chosen text, image, table, or interaction exposes the needed relation accurately and accessibly. | Repair the mapping, label, relation, pacing, or relevant alternative representation. Inspect an export separately when its rendering changes access. |
| Language comprehensibility for the audience | The reader can interpret the claim and scope without an accidental negation, ambiguous referent, or unintroduced language burden. | Repair the meaning-bearing span in the declared language. A local authorial-voice requirement remains local. |
| Currentness of relied-on content | The particular claim and dependent operation fit the declared subject or source state. | Recheck the changed premise and its consumers. Age alone does not decide whether a claim remains usable. |
| Practical addressability and access | The reader can reach the source, prerequisite, task, or feedback needed at this point. | Repair the actual target or accessible return. A broken link is not evidence that the underlying subject claim is false. |
| Narrative attachment, when live | The current question, new contribution, reason for placement, and later payoff connect across the actual sequence. | Use NSTD.8 to inspect both endpoints and restore the needed relation or placement; no connective-word quota is implied. |
| Progressive reconstruction support, when live | The required operation fits the structure already introduced or legitimately available, with adequate support for the new relation. | Use NSTD.8 to supply a contrast, map, worked relation, recap, usable return, or better order while retaining useful difficulty. |
These properties can share observations without sharing a value. A correct explanation can coexist with an invalid key. A teacher can rescue an explanation while the example still fails to distinguish a rival rule. A diagram’s semantic fit can be adequate while a particular export makes its labels unreadable. Split questions when their evidence or repair differs; do not count one shared observation several times as independent evidence.
Interpret material value separately from evidence and fit
For material-use and repair questions, the default is a qualified ordinal judgement. A numeric 0–5 rendering is optional. A selected C.2.8 structural amount instead uses its own qualitative comparison, count, fraction or other justified structural scale; the following material-quality labels neither measure that amount nor set its threshold. When using the 0–5 material rendering, bind the following meanings to the exact property, material grain, task family, and support arrangement before applying them.
| Value | Material meaning for the declared use |
|---|---|
| 0 | The material demonstrably supplies no usable support for the required property, or defeats an explicitly declared non-compensable condition at this evaluation grain. |
| 1 | Some relevant support exists, but a material part of the promised work remains out of reach. |
| 2 | Useful work is recoverable, but repair must rebuild a connected central explanation–task chain or several consequential dependent uses. |
| 3 | The main work is recoverable; a bounded correction to the identified relation, task, representation, or return is still needed. |
| 4 | The property is adequate for the declared tasks, audience, and available support on the evidence required by the specification; no material defect is currently established for that use. |
| 5 | The property has defensible additional useful resilience across the specification’s consequential variations or boundary cases; the advantage and its evidence over 4 are stated. |
The numbers denote ordered meanings, not equal intervals. A severe local defect does not automatically make a whole book 0. Trace its effect on the declared task family and any actual non-compensable condition. A high average cannot compensate a failed condition that the use cannot trade away.
A floor belongs to the consuming decision, not to HCD as a whole. The Time-use S1 example in HCD.18 chooses 4 for each selected property before relying on its bounded supported introduction. That is a local rule. A diagnostic, controlled probe, or different consequence can require a different decision without changing what a value means.
Evidence accompanies the value. Source inspection, an actual reader attempt, conditional inference, disputed criterion, and an unobserved contribution are different grounds. Wrong object kind is a fit decision before invocation. A required coordinate that cannot be judged returns its explicit evidence or criterion defect and the conclusion it blocks. It does not disappear from a complete result and does not receive 0 for ignorance.
For an assigned value, explain why adjacent alternatives would understate or overstate the evidence. Distinguish a central connected repair from a bounded one by the changes needed in use, not error count. A value of 5 requires useful resilience beyond 4; actual manufacturing or repair history is additional evidence only when a historical claim is live. A value of 4 can still have a worthwhile improvement. Compare that improvement’s benefit with its cost and protected contributions.
Earlier evaluations under other specifications retain their original value meanings. For example, a local Guide scale whose 0 includes wrong kind or no basis is not numerically equivalent to this material scale. A comparison may relate “connected repair” to “bounded repair” while explicitly declining numeric conversion.
Use the two methods together without adding a lifecycle
HCD.18 supplies a specification when one is needed. Its complete result includes fit, task denominator, selected properties and scale meanings, evidence and missingness, result interpretation, contrasts, protected trade-offs, and stops or reopens. It inherits general specification construction from A.19.ECS and supplies the instructional domain choices.
HCD.19 uses that specification to connect the exact material, subject criterion, available reader responses, actual assistance and repair. Compatible observations and qualified source inspection can finish a bounded diagnosis; missing evidence still withholds its dependent claim. Select further reader work only when its obtainable contribution warrants the full burden under the actual access, participation and protection conditions. Its result feeds E.23 improvement. If selecting among alternatives is live, E.22 supplies comparison under a common qualified basis. A new book format or a different teacher arrangement may change that basis; preserve earlier results instead of quietly relabelling them.
For long material, a whole-route conclusion needs connected inspection of the complete declared route and its cross-part dependencies. For a local defect, inspect the smallest complete semantic reach and reuse unaffected evidence. A moved explanation can change the next-use prefix even if its words are unchanged.
NSTD contributes only when the narrative question is live. NSTD.6 distinguishes the current product, promised source-to-result fidelity, and actual construction history. NSTD.8 supplies the attachment and available-prefix method. NarrativeRenderingEpiplexity is NSTD.6’s narrative specialization of C.2.8 over the expressed episteme, expression and observer, qualified by the selected structure and reading conditions. Reuse a structural result only when those values match. It is not observed cognitive load or learning effectiveness, and non-narrative material can use C.2.8 directly through HCD.18/.19. Retain a human report of difficulty and narrow any untested audience or experienced-burden claim now; the supported material diagnosis can finish with that human question unresolved. Select an appropriately timed observation of the actual reader only when its obtainable contribution can change the receiving decision enough to warrant the full design, preparation, reader, provider, interpretation, delay and displaced-work burden, with the needed access, participation and protection. Selecting the observation does not establish its result.
The time-accounting case makes the joint result concrete. M0’s uninterrupted example fits both active effort and elapsed turnaround. A prepared reader correctly separates them anyway and identifies its prior-knowledge contribution. M1 repairs the definitions, columns, interruption example, and population denominator. The same reader then correctly compares three consumed person-hours with four available person-hours in a changed two-person case. The material repair and bounded changed-condition use are supported; novice learning is not observed.
HCD.18’s full Time-use S1 specification also requires a concurrent-person example, an inspected task-and-key arrangement, and audience-compatible explanatory and feedback evidence. HCD.19’s complete replay returns those residual repairs or gaps instead of treating the successful agent answers as a complete positive evaluation. The practitioner can now decide exactly what to add and what to observe next.
Why this profile is useful, and when a simpler alternative suffices
A subject expert’s inspection is sufficient for a narrow false claim or unit relation. It is not enough for an audience-dependent claim that a reader can recover the explanation. A conventional task-and-scoring instrument may already supply an adequate specification; use it directly when its task, population, assistance, and inference fit. A format-specific production check is appropriate for an export defect, while a material-semantic defect can cross several exports.
Compared with a checklist of headings or visible features, this profile costs task and contrast construction but exposes missing work and distinguishes repairs. Compared with one post-reading score, it preserves the material and help that made the response possible. Compared with demanding a full learner study for every edit, it permits a qualified source diagnosis and bounded repair while naming the stronger evidence still needed.
Its principal risk is overinterpretation: an expert can silently repair a source, an evaluator can teach through a cue, and a fluent account can conceal a missing relation. Preserve first responses, inspect subject criteria and material contribution, and qualify the result by actual audience and support. Reopen only the properties and uses changed by a new premise, material change, meaningful reader result, or recurrent scale disagreement.
Source-informed choices and limits
The best-known line used here is task- and interpretation-sensitive evaluation, with examples that distinguish rival rules and observations that preserve assistance and continuation. HCD.18 and HCD.19 carry the comparisons, worked consequences, and source-specific reopens. These are professional adaptations; the studies do not validate this profile or its local ordinal anchors.
Wesenberg et al. (2025) supply failure evidence for ambiguous worked examples in bounded topics. McCrudden et al. (2022) and 2024 inform the required relation between principles, examples, and self-explanation. The resulting choice is to make the relation consequential in a task; it is not a universal ordering rule.
Noetel et al. (2022) inform mechanism-specific representation repair. Sinha and Kapur (2021) support distinguishing preparation followed by resolving instruction from unsupported difficulty. Wisniewski et al. (2020) support testing feedback’s function rather than its presence. None supplies a universal local threshold, fixed reader count, or whole-book adequacy finding.
Bastani et al. (2025) inform the separation of assisted and later independent performance in their studied arrangement. Krieglstein et al. (2025) discipline the timing and scope of experienced-burden observations. Bavaresco et al. (2025) supply task-dependent limits on substituting LLM judgements for human ones. Their practical consequence is qualified evidence, not simulated human learning or a ban on useful support.
APP-HCD-01 - Constructed ImpactReview-17 decision
ImpactReview-17 is a constructed pedagogical application. Its answer key, ImpactReview-17-Domain-Oracle-v1, supplies engineering correctness and criticality criteria for PumpWorks-Config-Baseline-42 and AI-Assist-M4. Its observations and decision conditions are stipulated so that the reader can follow demand derivation, diagnosis, and profile comparison. Operational use needs qualified criteria and evidence for the actual person and Work.
The exact human holder is Engineer-P14. The later Work is independent review of AI-proposed change-impact claims for mixed physical/software pump-controller changes before separate integration, assurance, and release decisions. The constructed 2026-Q4 conditions include current sources and configuration, a forty-five-minute case limit, the named AI assistant, recoverable audit records, and bounded safety and maintenance specialist returns. Final integration, safety, release, and employment authority remain elsewhere. A routine reminder to construct and test an alternative configuration hypothesis is allowed; the engineer must supply the case-specific rival and its test. A cue giving that rival would no longer test the required human contribution.
HCD.1 uses eight stipulated representative review occurrences—four familiar and four unfamiliar, four with plausible wrong AI dependency claims, two needing specialist return—to return qualified demand only inside the constructed case. Engineer-P14 must recognize applicability, trace claims to source and configuration, independently challenge plausible AI output, delimit specialist results, return auditable evidence, and detect every seeded safety-critical omission under the protected conditions.
The constructed baseline has correct trace and evidence return in 8/8 cases, correct specialist routing in 2/2 relevant cases, and rejection of 2/4 plausible wrong AI claims. In the two unfamiliar misses, a neutral E.23.CAE-shaped probe preserves Method, source, tool, time, assignment, authority, and specialist route. Engineer-P14 recognizes the need for independent checking but does not generate and test a competing configuration hypothesis. HCD.3 returns the qualified target generate and test an independent configuration counter-hypothesis before accepting plausible AI output in unfamiliar variants, with the small sample and live prompt-design rival explicit.
HCD.4 keeps four rows:
| Claim | Current constructed evidence | Target and trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| source/configuration trace | 8/8 | Preserve; do not trade traceability for speed. |
| independent AI-output challenge | 2/4 planted-error cases; both misses unfamiliar | Priority gap; target 4/4 and zero accepted seeded safety-critical omissions, with the forty-five-minute limit visible. |
| bounded specialist return | 2/2 relevant cases | Preserve the authority boundary. |
| auditable evidence return | 8/8 | Preserve; no aggregate may hide a missing critical-error record. |
Engineer-P14 is the person-level DecisionSubject for one self-development-focus choice inside a separately pre-authorized twelve-hour allocation. The pre-existing options are: O1 preserve without selecting change; O2 prioritize independent AI-output challenge for later programme comparison while preserving the supported claims; and O3 defer a human priority and return the prompt-design question to the Method/tool owner.
The shared evidential comparison retains the small sample and prompt rival. Use two further unfamiliar seeded-error cases, one first attempt per case: a neutral prompt on one, an explicit reminder of the operation on the other, using the prompt definitions in HCD.3:5.1. Success only with that reminder can support performance under the permitted assistance and favour returning prompt design to its owner; it leaves self-initiated recall open. Keep the same sources, tools, specialist routes, and forty-five-minute limit per case. Up to ninety minutes for attempts and thirty minutes for preparation and comparison fit the two-hour probe budget inside the twelve-hour allocation. The observations can still change the O2-versus-O3 comparison, but differences between the cases remain unresolved; this is not an isolated causal prompt test. The probe is feasible and worth its cost, so the explicit C.11 result is ChoiceResult = probe again. No profile option or programme is selected. The separately named integration, safety, release, and employment decisions remain with their authorized owners.
APP-HCD-02 - Constructed performance, transfer, retention and revision
Learner-L17 is a new fictional holder, distinct from Engineer-P14 and Engineer-E27. All attempts in this example are constructed observation traces, not data collected from programme learners.
The engineering exercise requires HW3/FW8. A report for FW7 cannot justify B’s use for FW8 even though B has the highest stipulated NPV: A/B/C are approximately 48.9/51.6/44.6 thousand under the financial assumptions. A still needs a shared-power check. C with a compatible HW3/FW8/SCHED2 report preserves two hours of required checks per change and one hour of preparation per homogeneous batch of up to four. Ten changes take 23 hours; twelve take 27. At 24 available hours, a ten-change proposal leaves two of twelve new changes in the weekly queue. At 22 hours, nine take 21 and ten cannot be promised. The release manager retains the release/use decision. These are exercise predicates, not current engineering or safety guidance.
| Independent Method question | Constructed observation or proposed change | Bounded result |
|---|---|---|
| HCD.11: what did L17 contribute? | The first answer calculates correctly but accepts B despite FW7. A teacher cue produces correction. In two later fresh representative cases, source and assistant traces show L17 recognizing the mismatch before any teacher or AI cue, then explaining a supported continuation and queue limit. | Initial compatibility failure, helped correction and later independent performance remain distinct; the sample supports only the tested contribution and conditions. |
| HCD.12: what survives unfamiliarity? | A complete HW3/FW8/SCHED2 report now supports action. L17 independently proposes ten at 24 hours and states the queue limit. At 22 hours, L17 first keeps ten and corrects to nine only after feedback. | Configuration-evidence transfer is supported in that case; independent resource adaptation is not. The local result is complete; a fresh uncued variation is needed before stronger reliance on independent resource adaptation. |
| HCD.14: which arrangement component changes now? | At the transfer return, replace the cue-led resource exercise with action/refusal contrasts and a fresh uncued capacity variation. Keep calculation, configuration checking, source access and resource limits protected. | A local testable revision hypothesis, not a settled cause, performed programme change or causal effect. HCD.13 is not a prerequisite. |
| HCD.13: what remains after the relevant interval? | Matched earlier and eight-week observations cover selected F.1, C.16 and C.11 contributions under stated intermittent practice and normal support. A separately specified fifteen-minute core uses tables and calculator but no AI; task order remains visible. A further source-access failure is returned as such. | Retention of the compared contributions and the narrow core under their conditions; no claim for untested patterns, non-use, the whole cohort or the revision’s causal effect. |
The bodies contain their own decisive facts and observations, so any of these questions can be used without reconstructing this connected account. The L17 example supplies none of the missing same-holder observations in ReleaseWork-R9 below.
APP-HCD-03 - Constructed continuation, Method repertoire and culture
Engineer-E27, CapabilityDevelopmentTeam-E27, ReleaseWork-R9, and every development and cultural observation in this application are constructed. The application does not establish that the later Work occurred, a provider operated, E27 participated, a Method was admitted or enacted, capability changed, or a cultural relation obtained.
The intended later-Work family is independent review of AI-assisted mixed physical/software release claims, including configuration impact, challenge of plausible wrong AI output, auditable evidence return, justified action or refusal, and bounded safety and maintenance specialist use. The example stipulates one compatible HCD.14 input: preserve familiar trace and specialist-return practice while replacing one cue-led correction exercise with action/refusal contrasts and one fresh uncued counter-hypothesis case.
| Independent Method question | Constructed first result | Boundary preserved |
|---|---|---|
| HCD.15: what keeps development responsive? | A continuing arrangement reopens after a material release-Method, configuration, AI, critical-error, qualification, source, provider or support change. It specifies representative cases, first-attempt capture, current sources, permitted AI conditions, coaching and specialist access, reassessment, owners and stops. The protected learner/provider allocation is still missing, so that practice contribution returns continuing-arrangement-blocked until its allocation owner supplies an agreed limit. | A trigger or plan is not performed development Work, later Work, participation, achieved capability or causal effect. |
| HCD.16: which repertoire claim changes? | Preserve the trace-and-specialist-return development Method, comprising representative attempts, feedback, correction or justified retention, and retry, only under the constructed admitted status and conditions; withdraw the unsupported independent-learning claim and keep cue-led and counter-hypothesis-first candidates as candidates. The proposed comparison costs three learner-hours and two provider-hours, including preparation, attempts, feedback and comparison; only half a provider-hour is available before the current decision. Finish with the trace/helped-use result and unresolved candidate comparison. In a later window supplying the full resources, access and protection, the independent-challenge offer can change enough to warrant further probe on matched unfamiliar cases. | Selecting that probe is not obtaining its result. The HCD result neither admits nor universally retires a Method, creates a variant, proves fit or worth, or transfers AI findings from customer support, consulting or school mathematics to release engineering. |
| HCD.17: what cultural continuation is warranted? | In the constructed 2026-Q4 provider group, receiving trainers use the teaching sequence after combined material-based and coached preparation: elicit a learner’s response before the answer-bearing cue, give feedback and arrange a suitable retry. Those session records support continue. A proposal to reduce trainer coaching needs a useful, feasible comparison of trainers’ use after the two preparation arrangements. | The learner’s uncued counter-hypothesis is a separate performance observation. Candidate-material use establishes no Method admission, wider adoption, long-term retention, general capability or causal effect. |
The four direct relations remain conditional. The HCD.14 hypothesis can inform HCD.15 or HCD.17; observed HCD.15 use can inform HCD.16; and an HCD.16 disposition can inform HCD.17. A receiver must still verify holder or population, later Work, status, conditions, evidence window and authority. A stale, differently scoped or absent result is replaced only by a qualified direct substitute or an exact missing-result return, never by PatternID order.
The application deliberately leaves the current ReleaseWork-R9 missing-value table below unchanged. It demonstrates how the three Methods return useful bounded results when their case inputs are stipulated, not how to turn those stipulated values into evidence about Engineer-E27.
APP-HCD-04 - Constructed whole learning product and shared task
An author plans a product for future technical diagnosticians who can calculate energy per unit volume but may mistake an increased indicator for proof of one cause. Their target is to compare rival explanations, select a discriminating observation and state a bounded conclusion. HCD.28:4–5 develops the whole route from qualified subject content to preparation, task, actual help, correction and personal observation.
The subject repair comes first when necessary. An implicit expert choice needs reconstruction; an unavailable qualified method needs subject development. If the method is available and the material hides the distinguishing condition, HCD.19 diagnoses that contribution. If the feedback cannot arrive, HCD.7/.8 address supply. Repairing one does not silently repair the others.
For 24 entrants, HCD.28 compares a supported individual variant with a shared-reasoning variant under the same intended result and assistance conditions. The individual route retains a ninety-minute core; the four-person route adds six minutes per learner for qualified help without removing either personal contribution or reconciliation. HCD.20 gives the joint timeline: group starts at 10:50, 11:00 and 11:10, with two mentors booked 11:00–11:30 and personal responses complete before noon. A twenty-minute preparation branch for six entrants adds two hours and returns them to the same whole task. HCD.20 checks sizes and peak help; HCD.22 shows the actual measurements, conditional models, observation choice, common conclusion and later personal return. The completed two-day comparison retains 288 minutes of personal checking and correction checking, plus coordination and bounded recovery. Its one-cohort allowances are 17.2 provider-hours for the individual option and 16.6 for four-person groups; full-reserve learner allowances are 39.5 and 42.65 hours. HCD.20 also develops the pair option and its peak demand. These different coordinates prevent a claim of unconditional economy. The common answer supplies no automatic result for every member.
A paid distributed-adult offer must find compatible meeting and response windows, count reading and correction outside meetings, and provide a usable route after a missed contribution. Payment and an assigned cohort do not establish those conditions. If the proposed simultaneous window cannot supply qualified help, the offer needs a viable staggered or individual variant, another provider, or a changed promise.
An internal team can instead use employer-provided time and equipment without purchasing a course. Its useful group actions may be prediction, measurement, challenge and operator rotation around the instrument. The access and confidentiality conditions, permitted training data and personal actions still require construction; a formula for sequential discussion does not size this task. If only the team’s delivered report is required and learning is not promised, division of labour or external competent help may be the appropriate work arrangement.
For an unknown audience whose target is a familiar calculation with no necessary exchange, a sufficient individual route remains a complete product. When a specific learner arrives, HCD.2 compares its useful finite contribution from that person’s supported baseline. The product account does not assign the whole offer to everyone matching an audience label.
These are constructed contrasts. They establish neither actual participation, operating support, personal learning, team capability nor causal effectiveness. The appropriate observation and decision remain with their direct methods and owners.
Application return to a programme and instrument designer
The specified FoundationsProgramme is a 34-week design with 340 learner hours, 240 teaching hours, 16 topics and 49 practiced patterns. Its two intended outcomes are checked performance of complete selected work tasks and lower effort to learn a previously untaught Method while preserving correctness. The release-review and support-workload cases illustrate the first; the proposed new-Method instrument below addresses the second. The quantities and outcomes describe a design, not observed learner gains. HCD can qualify programme, practice and evidence questions; the Learning Product owner still designs and resources the actual programme, tasks and instrument.
Before particular learners are known, the present decision concerns a learning product for a future audience. HCD.2 therefore returns the design values or candidate fragments needed for that product rather than inventing a personal recommendation. PSD can compare the author’s A/B/C learning-product options. Once one person becomes current, a personal HCD.2 comparison needs that same holder’s later Work, qualified target or profile, starting attempt, support conditions, feasible candidates and finite resources. It still stops before programme choice, commitment or launch.
At the original ten learner-hours per week, the three A/B/C compositions are 340-hour candidates. If participant time falls to six hours a week, the 34-week limit becomes 204 hours. All three original designs then require revision. The author must identify which 136 hours are removed or replaced, what complete-task practice and evidence are preserved, and whether both intended outcomes remain attainable. The three over-budget candidates do not establish that a suitable 204-hour programme exists.
This is a constraint on the whole proposed combination. In the original design, A allocates 202/96/42 learner hours to general/domain/joint application, B allocates 88/204/48, and C allocates 136/136/68; each totals 340. The usefulness of an individual topic, exercise or pair of contributions does not establish that all selected contributions fit the same learner’s 204 hours. Each revised candidate must account once for its complete learner effort and show that the required preparation, whole-task attempts, feedback, correction and evidence can coexist within that limit. The teacher’s separate contribution has its own limit and timing test below.
HCD.2’s useful immediate return is a comparable fragment for one complete task family. The author can retain C’s available detail and develop the smallest missing A/B fragment with the same output, audience assumptions, practice, help and evidence opportunity. HCD.5/.6 explain the different development contribution; HCD.7 tests the corresponding provider demand; HCD.8 enters only for an exact gap that must be obtained or built. The resulting comparison can expose a useful substitution or a remaining constraint. It still leaves the existence of a full 204-hour programme open. Changing an intended output is a separate target decision, as illustrated by HCD.2:5.2’s narrower 170-hour offer.
Teaching capacity is another contribution account. For twelve participants, 32 × 6.5 + 2 × 16 = 240 teaching hours and 240 / 12 = 20 hours per participant are planning allocations, not twenty hours of individual teacher contact. HCD.7 must establish the actual modelling, feedback, assessment, specialist, tool, AI and checking contributions at their working times and peak load. With twenty-four participants, the same per-person checking demand either doubles the checking work or requires an explicit split or changed service design; the 240-hour label cannot simply be reused.
The new programme-and-practice Methods make the design chain inspectable without turning it into a mandatory sequence. HCD.5 selects a Method from the target action, starting attempt, mechanism, task, provider, risk and evidence need. For a future audience it supplies conditional choices and the entry evidence needed to apply them. HCD.6 designs representative action-and-refusal contrasts, including compatible FW8 evidence and 24- versus 22-hour resource cases where the changed limit should change the answer. HCD.7 establishes the sources, tables, calculator, AI conditions, assessor competence, capacity, human checking and fallback. HCD.8 is used only if one exact contribution remains missing and obtaining or building it has to be decided.
For example, assessor preparation can use three contrasting answers: a supported ten-change proposal under 24 hours, an unsupported twelve-change promise under the same limit, and a justified request when the firmware evidence is absent. Independent judgements and criterion-level disagreement resolution are preparation. Consistent and timely judgement on a changed 22-hour case is the bounded operating test; it does not establish general assessor capability, whole-window service operation or a learner effect.
HCD.9 then keeps the learner’s first attempt, actual help, criterion-bearing feedback, correction, targeted retry and next focus separate. HCD.10 can vary a decision-bearing condition, return to the target after an interval, interleave a competing Method family, or change support or challenge. None of these designs by itself establishes improved capability, transfer, retention or causal effectiveness.
Its planned delayed visits concern six selected patterns: F.1, F.0.1, C.16, B.5.2, A.10.1 and C.11.
| Planned visit | Selected contribution | Conditions that affect the interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| Week 8 | F.1 and F.0.1, about six weeks after their initial work | Ordinary sources and tools; five minutes of independent question recognition before searching. |
| Week 17 | C.16 and B.5.2 in a different managerial or engineering case | Pattern texts and AI for the main task; a separate short internal-core probe. |
| Week 25 | F.1, C.16 and A.10.1 in a configuration question | Record use and practice during the intervening weeks rather than assuming non-use. |
| Week 34 | F.1, C.16 and C.11 in an integration case | Normal means for the main task and a separately specified first move without AI. |
Weeks 8, 17, 25 and 34 are an HCD.10 spacing design only because they are separated returns to selected contributions with intervening practice made visible. HCD.13 owns any later inference about retained performance or support dependence. Calendar dates alone establish neither retrieval nor retention.
The thirty-minute final core contains one fifteen-minute no-AI fragment; supplied tables and a calculator remain available. The main task retains ordinary pattern and AI access. The fragment tests recovery of the configuration and time constraints, rejection of an unsupported release, and a valid next proposal. It is not a compressed closed-book examination of the whole course. An additional six-to-eight-week follow-up outside the programme needs separately agreed time, assessor and access.
The proposed Q2 unfamiliar-Method instrument remains a distinct design task:
| Minutes | Intended observation |
|---|---|
| 5 | Prior familiarity and relevant conditions. |
| 8 | Unannounced recognition and finding a usable source, without a PatternID cue. |
| 22 | First application after every participant receives the same exact new source. |
| 15 | Adaptation to a material changed condition. |
| 10 | Checking, correction and explanation, with first and helped performance kept separate. |
These sixty minutes replace the existing one-hour task; they do not add an hour to the 340-hour design. The designer must still show that the tasks fit. A proposed ME.14 task must test its new practical-disposition contribution against current alternatives; a SYSE.23 task must distinguish target-system change from enabling-platform change and test the anticipated future benefit. Familiar cost arithmetic or reused C.11 comparison alone cannot demonstrate acquisition of either whole contribution.
Retain recognition, first and corrected performance, new-source contribution, help, time, material errors and unfinished attempts separately. “Faster learning at unchanged correctness” needs actual comparable observations; different Methods at weeks 17 and 34 do not isolate a training effect. The three-to-five-hour instrument-authoring estimate is not the cost of a learner experiment. These specifications supply no Q2 result, pilot extension or actual learner trial.
ReleaseWork-R9 - Prospective demand and discriminated missing evidence
For Engineer-E27, the accepted future architecture permits HCD.1 to return a prospective demand hypothesis for AI-output challenge, configuration-impact reasoning, evidence return, specialist coordination, critical-error detection, and unfamiliar-variant adaptation in 2026-Q4 ReleaseWork-R9. It does not permit qualified current demand.
The missing values remain separate:
| Missing value | What it prevents now | Retry boundary |
|---|---|---|
compatible obtaining SYSE.21 supplier result required by XRI-21 | Any HCD.1 demand use that consumes current engineering-culture enactment, bounded practice-change decision, retained alternatives, or evidence gaps | Obtain that compatible result, or a receiver-permitted qualified direct substitute, for Engineer-E27, the Method, Work, period, and evidence use. |
| actual ReleaseWork-R9 Work occurrence | Treating ReleaseWork-R9 itself as current later-Work evidence | Admit performed Work with Engineer-E27, configuration, period, and performer recoverable. |
| occurrence-produced result or supported direct result claim | Any conclusion consuming the occurrence’s obtained quality, error, result, or consequence | Establish the produced result or supported direct claim tied to the admitted occurrence. |
| occurrence-bound result record | Any record-dependent inference | Relate a current result episteme to the admitted occurrence and result; do not require it where qualified direct observations suffice. |
| representative occurrence-bound observations | Qualified current demand, a diagnostic target, and a current profile comparison | Obtain holder- and condition-compatible observations or a named qualified representative set covering performed Method, configuration, work products, quality and critical errors, AI/support posture, specialist returns, variants, and evidence window. |
Use the current SYSE.21 MethodDescription and its constructed PumpWorks demonstration to shape questions. Keep the XRI-21 supplier result and the other row-specific observations open until they are available for Engineer-E27; the constructed examples establish no such observations.
Current returns are therefore conclusion-specific: HCD.1 preserves the prospective demand hypothesis and returns demand-evidence-blocked for qualified current demand; HCD.3 returns diagnostic-evidence-missing and selects no training; HCD.4 retains only prospective target claims and returns profile-decision-blocked. Recovering one missing value changes only the conclusions that consume it.
APP-HCD-05 - Explanation, peer judgement and personal return across different settings
A paid distributed adult programme
Twelve adults from different organisations need to learn to judge whether a recommendation follows from its evidence and to carry that distinction into their own project. This constructed additional block uses already qualified subject criteria and entrants able to read the short cases. It is separate from APP-HCD-04’s diagnostic routes. The complete connection matters: a good group comment is insufficient if its reviewer cannot justify it or its recipient cannot use it.
HCD.20 compares the intended contribution with supported individual work. Here peer judgement is itself a learning target, so receiving a ready-made expert or AI comment does not supply the whole required action. HCD.21 forms three compatible groups from actual availability, preparation and permission, then establishes the contact. A closed project supplies a cleared fragment or a constructed counterpart retaining the evidence-to-conclusion relation; if that relation cannot be disclosed, the group does not claim to review the closed project.
Each learner prepares a bounded question, ground and conditional conclusion. HCD.27:5.1 develops the actual Tuesday-to-Friday transfers and provider windows. The assessor first checks the fragments; the facilitator selects three useful contrasting pairs while preserving their conditions. Reading the selected pair, each participant makes a criterion-bearing judgement before the common exchange. HCD.6.1 makes a missed observation-versus-cause distinction discernible, using the shortest preparation that serves that gap.
During the thirty-minute group episode, four three-minute contributions expose each participant’s own judgement and grounds. Six minutes let peers question and compare those grounds, six permit subject help, and the final six give each learner ninety seconds to explain which part of their own judgement they will retain or revise and why. The selected pair supplies common material; it does not restrict feedback and revision to those two original authors. These are constructed allocations for short judgements, not a universal discussion format. HCD.23 supplies explanatory reconstruction and HCD.24 connects each reviewer’s judgement to their response as the author of that judgement. Where the original case authors are present, they can also use the feedback to revise the underlying recommendation. If a group edits one person’s answer without comparing grounds, HCD.26 restores the missing action or returns the unavailable subject help. A cue that is merely acknowledged has not restored it.
The three groups have confirmed starts at 18:00, 18:08 and 18:16. HCD.27:5.1 shows every stage on the same clock: after twelve minutes of individual judgements and six of comparison, the one mentor visits at 18:18–18:24, 18:26–18:32 and 18:34–18:40. Each final personal return follows that visit; the groups finish at 18:30, 18:38 and 18:46. The mentor is booked 18:16–18:46, including transitions. Each learner still spends thirty active minutes, while the cohort’s elapsed span increases to forty-six minutes. These starts require actual participant availability; a common 18:30 finish needs another support arrangement.
Each person then applies the relation to an own or permitted substitute case with a changed condition. HCD.25 asks what corresponds and what would defeat the move. For example, two reports derived from one observation cannot supply two independent observations. The receiving task’s qualified criterion still decides whether another observation is needed. HCD.12 distinguishes an unfamiliar transfer test from learning the distinction during this very exercise; feedback-assisted correction remains visible.
The finite planning account allocates three fixed provider-hours to case preparation, criterion qualification and provider readiness. Recurring provider allocation is 370 minutes: Tuesday checking and reserve 120, selection 20, contact and coordination 20, Wednesday mentoring 30, Thursday personal-return checking and reserve 120, and Friday correction checking and reserve 60. Thus one cohort allocates 550 minutes, or nine hours ten minutes including fixed preparation. The same person may perform several contributions only if the stated windows remain compatible; reserved time counts even if unused.
Each learner’s core allowance is 95 active minutes: twenty for the initial fragment, fifteen for returned feedback and preparing the comparative judgement, thirty for exchange, fifteen for the changed personal application and fifteen for correction. Twelve learners therefore require nineteen active hours. This estimate assumes the stated preparation and short readable cases. A prerequisite branch, translation or restored missed conversation adds its actual learner and provider burden. The finite reserves cover bounded clarification, not unlimited additional teaching. Demand beyond them returns a changed window, another competent provider or a narrower promise before the result is claimed.
HCD.28 receives this entire conditional construction. Fees alone establish neither availability nor effectiveness. Actual contact, use of the feedback, first and helped responses, and provider demand determine what can be retained or revised for another cohort. A causal comparison of programme variants would additionally need a suitable unit of assignment, treatment of interacting learners and attrition, actual support exposure and a qualified research design; this planning account supplies none of those observations.
Internal team learning without a course purchase
An employer instead releases four technicians to work around one safe training instrument. The learning actions are prediction, observation, questioning and manipulation under the supplied technical criterion. HCD.20:5.2 derives capacity from the exclusive operating turns and useful concurrent observer actions. HCD.21 can retain the team because shared access and context matter; outside diversity is not automatically worth losing the permitted material.
HCD.22 preserves each required action, and HCD.23 lets an observer explain a discrepancy before the operator changes the setting. HCD.26 distinguishes quiet observation from inaccessible information or a missed distinction. Where colleagues judge and revise a diagnostic explanation, HCD.24 supplies that bounded exchange. A final plant decision still belongs to its authorised technical owner. Employer time, equipment access and qualified help are actual supply contributions even though no course was bought.
The team can use HCD.25 with a permitted outside case to test a recurring relation, while HCD.27 preserves internal data and organises a later entry for someone who missed an operating turn. Watching the recording restores information but not that person’s manipulation. If the real target is the team’s coordinated production capability, OCE and the relevant work method govern that result; individual evidence alone does not establish it.
An author whose audience is not yet known
An author prepares instruction for interpreting an indicator under specified assumptions. HCD.28 first obtains the subject Method or returns its absence. It then compares a supported individual route with a route using peer explanation or judgement. When readable contrasts and accessible qualified feedback supply the entire target, the individual route is a complete candidate: it needs neither fabricated partners nor an invented common calendar.
If a later version promises the learner’s ability to judge another person’s reasoning or respond to a challenge, the relevant HCD.23/.24 action must be added with actual people or another arrangement that preserves that human contribution. An AI-generated answer does not by itself supply it. HCD.27 adds shared occasions only where the new dependency requires them. A known learner subsequently enters HCD.2 with their actual starting evidence, work and access. The product’s general audience assumptions cannot replace that personal comparison.
These cases demonstrate constructed choices and connections. Their different permissions, actions, windows and burdens change the arrangement; they do not establish observed learning or service operation.
Clinical unlike case - Return diagnosis and treatment to their owner
Return an adult’s request for treatment of social anxiety to qualified clinical care. HCD.1 may address a separately posed, legitimate question about non-clinical participation in later Work, supplied by the person or qualified clinical owner.
HCD.3 returns a non-training clinical route whenever diagnosis, treatment choice, exposure or CBT content, clinical safety, provider competence, consent, or outcome interpretation is current. HCD.4 does not turn symptom measures, treatment plans, or provider pathways into a mastery profile.
Qualified clinical professionals make judgements about diagnosis, treatment, provider competence, safety, and clinical outcomes. The person gives or withholds consent; other authorized actors make the decisions within their remit. HCD prescribes no exposure, behavioural experiment, homework, counterconditioning, symptom endpoint, or provider arrangement.
