IS.6:4.3 - Translate the contribution into a changeable practice claim

Work with the speaker and the intended receiver on the same episode. Recover what the account changes: the expected benefit, a necessary action, a condition of access, the permitted target population, a harmful consequence or the explanation of why the practice should work. Ask the speaker whether the receiving paraphrase preserves the consequential difference. Retain disagreement that changes the decision.

For each such difference, construct at least the incumbent continuation and the materially different response. A report that appointments are inaccessible might call for a different referral route, assistance with transport, changed opening hours, another provider or a narrower promise. The response is selected through its actual usefulness and feasibility, not by the broker’s preference for participation. IS.3 supplies the comparison of complete helping arrangements; IS.7 develops the coupled intervention-and-context question when needed.
